Dann's Blaster Projects - (Latest) FM ANH Hero Project from Nov 2022

I suppose eventually I'll sand the knurls down on the end caps and paint it black, yeah. I do like the steel look, though!

There really is no substitute for real chrome! It can make all the difference. It can make something that's 90% plastic look totally legit. (As long as you've got some decent paintin' skills!)View attachment 854277View attachment 854278

wow!! I got the sidewinder kit coming at some point (patiently waiting) but this looks absolutely beautiful! This empire ee3 is tops. Beautiful work Dann :notworthy:

Finally swapped that center screw in my GK mount, now they're all 10-32, and all steel.

Here's some updated pics with a little weathering, loosely matching the original prop's weathering. Also went back to the Red 9 grips that I filled in. They just feel nicer than the resin ones.

I also caved-in that windage knob cover, a bit. It's tough to get a good shot of it!

Hey Dann, I was just going through this thread and am admiring your Ponda Baba scope. Can I ask what model scope it is? I'm not having any luck finding one...

Here's a couple more pics, I've made an initial finishing pass. Still some work to do yet.

I've forgotten the proper size for the mystery disc, is this too big?

I need to decide on my method for mating the upper and lower. I may have to draw something up, since I've filled in the screw hole under the barrel, and the holes for the pins, though since the upper has been moved, they wouldn't work anyway.

I'd like this to be a mechanical connection, and relatively easy to take back apart if need be. I may model something that'll go inside the magazine well, grab onto the 1/4-20 rod for the scope bracket, and then somehow attach to the upper. Just need to picture it in my head.

Thanks, man! Yeah, that was a TON of work, that project. I do not envy any who go to such lengths with a Denix. I don’t know if I’d have the patience to do it again!

Ya the road to modifying a denix is longer than most think it is for sure! You really killed it though. Ive always thought about designing up a lockframe for denix similar to what you did but I dont have a big enough mill to pull it off and dont really want to invest in one simply for that. But it’s definitely one of the MANY details that help take it up to the next level in perfection. Out of all the mods you did, which do you think is the most important.. and if you could only do 3 which would they be? I have my answers but Im curious to know yours. Not many people venture down this denix mod path to such great lengths so I’m curious to hear your insights.

Been quite awhile since I updated any of my threads, or even lurked about.

I recently moved into a new house, and came across a couple projects that I had printed or started and never finished.

This Dr. Evazan blaster is one of those projects.

Aside from the possible red and green wires on the left side, it’s pretty much done, at this point. I’d forgotten how much I hated sanding PLA. Adding enough layers of paint, and then sanding those, does make it a little easier, though.

Looking again at the pics, there are definitely a few areas that could still use some attention, and I could stand to add a little more grime here and there. I also think I glued the fire selector on backwards. Heh.

Enjoy the pics of the SE-14C!

Nice! May I ask whose files you used?
I don't even remember. I'm pretty sure they're available on Thingiverse, but I do remember that I HEAVILY modified the model so that the dust cover could be repositioned. It was not easy, but it was worth it, and necessary, in my opinion.

Swapped out the scopes for a slightly different pair. Kept the same eyepieces, though. Not sure which I’ll stick with, for this blaster. It seems like the original scopes’ saddles are just barely in between where they are in comparison to the two pair I’ve tried, so far. I suppose I’m getting a bit nitpicky, here. I do have a couple more pair that I can try…

Also took some pics of a few other blasters, since I’m in the process of hanging things on the walls in my new house.

I’ve painted the SE-14R black, again, now that I’ve finally built the Evazan blaster. I’ll likely do a little more work to it, before I call it done. The seams, for one thing, need to be addressed. The knurls need to be smoothed over, and I want to redo the scope mount again. I feel like the scope needs to sit just a few mm higher.

Then there’s the custom job inspired by a previous member’s design. I still love this one.

And finally, a bit of an amalgam, but mostly inspired by the Muppet Show/Dagobah blaster. More work will be done to this guy, as well, at some point. It needs a bull barrel, correct scope and maybe a couple other things.
