Daft Punk Tron Premier - gloves?

So me and a friend are building the Tron Legacy Daft Punk costumes. As a side project - and to maximize our usage of our helmet molds and hand plate vacforming bucks, we're going to also assemble the tuxedo version as worn at the Tron movie premier.

I've narrowed down my search on the specific tuxedo type, but I'm curious about the gloves. They aren't the same plain black gloves worn with the HAA-era suits. They appear to be a rubber or neoprene-like material with some kind of printed or 3D texture on them. I suspect it's a grippy texture, but it could very well just be a printed visual (not functional) texture. Has anyone seen these gloves before or know what kind of gloves they are?

The also appear to be rather lengthy, maybe going all the way to the elbow. You can see a lot of glove exposed underneath the shirt cuffs. Before noticing that I would have said check Burton under gloves. I have some I use for snowboarding that have a very similar texture, but don't extend much past the wrists.

I've definitely seen some terrain park gloves that look similar. Also glove liners are also a pretty close bet, I have a pair with the same wavy texture except its rubberized, but same as what Baron said about the length. I wouldn't be surprised if they are custom.

Edit: This is the glove liner I was talking about, the version from 2 seasons ago had the wavy texture, this years looks slightly different. It's actually what I used for my Daft Punk gloves. Burton Powerstretch Liner.

Edit2: Scratch that, the pattern looks completely different in the new bigger photos

Daft Punk's gloves have been elbow length for a while, so that's nothing new.

As for the material of the new gloves, I really have no idea. What ever it is it looks like it breathes better that's for sure.

Do you have any pictures of your helmets?

Yep. I modeled my own helmets in Rhino3D and then converted them to pepakura. Then going through the typical motions of fiberglassing, bondo, smoothing, etc. Then they'll be molded and I'll make fiberglass castings for the final helmets.

Here's Thomas. The chin area needs work as I got the shape of the chin panel wrong. It's OK from 10 feet away, but I need to resculpt the area to make it accurate. Also, the ears will be chopped off and replaced with castings of a lathed ear piece.

Here's Guy, same as above. It's a second generation model so I've paid better attention to proportions from the last helmet. Also, I made sure to model in the distinct flat chin. This one is currently being sculpted as the Tron Legacy-era helmet, which will be used for the movie version, and for the Derezzed video / premier red carpet version.

My hand plate vacuum forming bucks are sculpted and ready for pulls, I just don't have plastic yet. I ordered two pairs of elbow-length gloves for each of us - one white and one black, so we're ready to rumble as far as gloves go.

Depending on my pay situation after this month's rent is paid, I'll either order the plastic for the hands and visors, or I'll order some rubber to start modling up Guy's helmet (it's much farther along than what you see in the photos, I just haven't uploaded new photos yet).

Torsoboy. Care to share your pep files? If not, I understand!

I will not be distributing my files. I had some distribution issues with one of them a while back. I wasn't keen on the idea in the first place, but that really put the final nail in the coffin. Since then ive given it further consideration, and I arrived at the conclusion that I consider my pep work to be like a clay model stage. Intentionally not the final product. As professional artist of other mediums as well, I would never think of distributing unfinished work. I appreciate the interest, but my files just aren't intended for release.

However, the answer Shadowknight's question, I will be molding these because I intend for the final product to be fiberglass castings. Me and my friend will be doing multiple versions of the costumes and thus need multiple helmets. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to make kits available, but if I do you'll find them in the junkyard. :)

Wow great pictures! It looks like only the palm-side faces and the top-side faces have the texture. It looks like the side panels in between the fingers are just regular black cloth (looks kind of spandexy).

So foregoing 100% accuracy with the rubber grips, does anybody know where to get some elbow length black stretch gloves that aren't shiny/made of satin? Ebay is loaded with satin ones, but I haven't been able to track down matte ones.

I just inquired about having 2 sets made using similar material to the above material. If you like I can pm you some details when I get an answer back.

Definitely. It wouldn't feel right to slap Volpin hand plates onto any old tac gloves.
