I have decided to make a new Thomas helmet... I had a lot of fun building the last 3 DP helmets so I decided to make a fourth... (I wanted a Volpin or a Firewire but decided to get off my ***** and make one myself...) so here is my progress over the past few days... Comment/ Thoughts welcome...

I don't think anyone else has built this helmet from a pep yet so... Here we go!

I didn't rescale the .pdo at all because I was told it would fit me fine, I am 5' 10" and have a 20" shoulder span.

My only objection is that it is a little long for my taste... but we will see what happens as I go...

Same song and dance... I covered the helmet in polyester resin...

Now instead of Rondo or fiberglassing the interior of the helmet... I used some casting resin and slushed it around the inside. This is much easier and faster, and there are no rough edges to smooth out on the inside of the bucket...

The stick in there is to keep the helmet from buckling and becoming too narrow...

Oh and just a comparison shot of this new pep to my other Thomas build...

This will have more room in it for electronics and will fit more folks... I always thought my last one was a bit small...

I did a little more work today and wanted to prime it for the first time but the wind in LA right now is insane... It'll have to wait till tomorrow...

Soooo... Another update....

I carved out grooves for the holes in the nose and mouth. I chose to do it this way to give more versatility to the helmet. This way both types of mouths can be cut out and if you choose to make the nose smaller, you can. On to the pics!!!

Test helmet pull.

It's got some small divots here and there but it's not bad for my first two part mold I think...
