Cyclops visor mod help

I just got the X2 replica visor from Windlass studios. All in all, I like it and glad I only paid $70 since now I've been seeing them go for over $200 sometimes on ebay.
The metal case is a nice touch - probably the most high-end thing about the whole piece. The visor itself is just plastic but the most dissapointing thing is the visor's lens.
Red, yes - but wayyyy too see through. It takes away from the effect when you can see my eyes when I am wearing them.
Though I don't suspect I will be trotting around town wearing them, I would like to replace the lens with something a little more authentic looking and hoping to find a red mirror that is similar to a two-way mirror where I can see through but no one can see my eyes.
If anyone has any tips for this mod please chime in...

I would want to see a sample of something like that to make sure its the look I'm after.
But yeah, that's a whole lotta film!
I appreciate the help, hopefully some other options present itself as well.

There was a guy offering one in the Junkyard, I forget his name, but he made a really cool one that had a piece of red vinyl with silver mirrored window tint on the back to reflect the lens color out the front. Sounds like it was a royal pain though. Might want to do a quick search of visors for sale.

So in theory, if I found a piece of chrome mirrored tint, I could put that behind the red plastic in the visor and it should give me a good enough effect? As it is now, you can see my eyes when I wear them and it looks so bogus I gotta do something about it.

Those goggle lenses look transluscent - is the red chrome a mirror finish that cannot be seen through from the outside?

Yep, that should do the trick, that's what he said he did for his visor, and from the pictures it looked pretty well mirrored.

Thanks for the tip. Can't find that thread you are talking about but I will look around my town and see if I can find some chrome tint.

Frosty I garauntee that if you double up the tint or add chrome/reflective tint on the inside it will give better results than what it started out being.

I have added plain welding shield plastic behind studio light gels for trooper buckets that are see through yet give the color of the outside gel, that by itself is totally see through.

Try the cheapest route first. Leaving the original red lens in with mirrored lens behind it.

I bet it will look better than you think. AND you can always return it to it's normal state without ruining the liscensed replica. You might even just be able to press fit it in or with a small dab of E-6000 (that could be removed and cleaned off.)

At least that's my line of thinking with liscensed pieces. Even if you aren't ever going to sell it. Try and improve it without destroying what it was. If you get my meaning?

Wow, I might have to list mine! :lol

My issue is that they don't fit me correctly. They fit tight on the sides and slip off the bridge of my nose. Good for display but not for wearing.

Post pics of your mod!
