CYBERMAN ..... foam build.

After finishing my Chaos Space Marine costume I said to myself "no more costumes for a while" ...............

Yeah right !

I found myself at my workbench with a knife and a pile of foam matts.

This is what happened.......









That's a forearm if anyone is wondering.

Another piece of foam and before I knew it a upper arm piece took shape.









Made myself a glove as well.







Put them all together and it looks like this.......

What files are you using or is this your own creation ?
Is the white filler, some sort of silicone ?

The white filler is just some multi-purpose joint filler. I'm using JB custom's pep files http://www.therpf.com/f24/foam-speed-building-files-jango-fett-helmet-added-148889/ but modifying them into a more simple patten.

Foam used is 10mm thick foam floor mats.... they come in a pack of 4.



A little heat from a heat gun helps with the bending but I find once the ends are glued together they are holding their shape just fine.

Another piece of the puzzle in place, just need to get a backplate for it.

Almost have the right arm done, will post some pics soon.

Awesome work! I'm planning on doing a cyberman after I finish my current build.

Been busy and the progress has been slow with this.

But I have finished both arms and hands and started playing around with some paint applications.





Also got myself one of Weaslflinger's awesome backplates for the voice changer helmet.







Working on the chest/back and cod/butt pieces at the moment and almost have those together, pics soon.

Looking really great! I hope I can do this well when I get around to it.

Have you gotten started on the helmet back yet? I have one myself but it doesn't fit the helmet at all. If you can make it work I'd love to know how you did it.

No I haven't touched the helmet or backplate yet... think I'll leave it last.

I'm in two minds at the moment with it..... do I leave the helmet as is electronics wise and mod the plate to sit over the existing back, or do I ditch the electronics and cut the helmet. :confused ...

If I leave the helmet as is, it means pressing the buttons on it to make it talk each time...... not sure if that would look too cool while wearing it.
