Cutthroat Island treasure map pieces

I've been wanting to make this for a long time now...the 3-part map from Cutthroat Island....one part was printed on paper...one was carved in wood...the third was tatooed onto a human scalp (I knew, eew). They had to put all three pieces together to find the exact location of the treasure.

So far this is all I've been able to dig up online...not quite willing to commit to buying the movie on Amazon or anything just yet...it was, after all, a fairly crappy movie.
:rolleyes

Dude, what are you talking about, that movie was ALL ACTION. And I didnt see Jack sparrow blow up a full sized spanish gallion.

ANYWAY, Ive started this piece already. I have the barrel top all made and am working on the scalp and the parchment. Those are as good as pics as your gonna get, those are the exact same ones ive pulled off my DVD.

Ill send pics if ya want, but PM me and ill let ya know more if you want.

Bump! I love that movie, really undeserving of the bad reviews. Did you guys complete the map? I'd love to see it.

Has this movie come out on blueray? if it has someone could take some better photos

I have it on Blu-ray, and haven't even re-watched it yet... Haven't seen it since it was in theaters. I should be able to pull some shots of it this week if no one beats me to it... :cool Good excuse to watch it again, I remember enjoying it for what it was...

I love this prop!!! I have the shortsword/dagger that she threw and stuck into the ships mast, but I have to agree that this movie stunk. It's one of those movies where the props are better than the movie.

Also can't wait for some blueray screencaps to be posted whoevers got them!:love:thumbsup

Here's what I got: (I skimmed through the movie quickly, if I missed a good shot somewhere, let me know.)
Please excuse the HUGE pictures... I can just make them links if that's easier for everyone... :)

Two shots of the wood piece up close:

Neat replicas. IIRC they make/made Dog's saber. Ugly thing, that one.

One of my favorite shots was Matthew Modine down in the hold as it fills with water, followed by an exterior shot of the ship sitting just as high in the water as it ever was. Somehow the water was moving up through the ship.

I really enjoyed the movie but was a bit disappointed it wasn't so well received once it hit the theatres. I worked on the film and have very happy memories of my time on it as it was my first foreign location (Malta). I worked at the Jim Henson Creature Shop at the time and we were commissioned to build the Moray Eels. We also had to animate them during the various scenes with Frank Langella and Gina Davis in the old cavern.

I managed to snag a few souvenirs after the shoot, not a map unfortunately but I did get a leather bound drinking tankard, some Draughts pieces from a board game in the cavern a few other bits and bobs and Matthew Modines personalised directors chair with the Cut Throat Island logo on the back.

Renny Harlin and Gina Davis were great to work with and they were really enthusiastic when we arrived and were really eager to see a demonstration of the Eels just hours after we landed and arrived on set.

Good to hear a few others enjoyed the movie as much as I did. I took loads of photos at the time but I don't think any of them included the map.

Vince.

Weird how the scalp piece suddenly looks much different in the shot with all of them together... :) Suddenly it has a straight side.
