The CGI version on the show doesn't do this ship justice like you have, Steve. But then you're likely already aware of that!:lol
 
I think its fair to say that this is the defeinitive NX-01 build. until I do mine anyway :confused just kidding, althought I know mine will be good - this one is REALLY spectacular.

Quick question - you mentioned that you added 10 LEDs to the light kit and Fiber optics what were the specs on the LEDs (voltage etc.) and where did they go? Also, where (other than the hood scoop) did the FO go?

Thanks Jedi. I added all the hanger bays with fiber optics. The three bright light sources around the bridge module. The registry light on the hood. The rest were 3mm ultra bright LEDs in different areas to add fill.

Holy smokes batman... thats an awesome model Steve, kudos to your work and attention to detail and pain staking man hours.
 
Thanks for sharing your buildup progress Steve! It really is inspiring to see your meticulous craftsmanship yield such a beautiful buildup.
 
This build up is even better than thom sasser version. He designed the kit. Sorry thom...

Is it hard? I mean, all that work, attention to detail, & plain love that went into it... isn't it like sending a kid of yours off to get married or something?

Still working on some base ideas but here is the final NX-01 in all its glory.

That's a classy looking model. The decal work you did on this makes my mind numb! I really like the finish you've wound up with, and the subtle weathering is amazing. You really can tell you're a pro. Also, I have to say that this build has made me appreciate the design of this ship...I've never watched the show and had no interest in it, but this model of yours has made me curious.
 
This was an amazing thread. It definitely needs to be archived...

Please do a PL 1/350 Movie Enterprise (1701) ! In fact, I have one on my table you could use :))))

thanks so much that's very nice of you to say. I plan to start watching the show for the same reasons and since my friend designed this ship I need to anyway.

Got Maul thanks. I did do one of those it's on my web site : Welcome To My Website But I never went as far with it as I could have since I made to be run under water as an RC sub. I also build high end radio controlled subs but in the end I couldn't bare to put it in the water. Someone will have me build one for them eventually. I have had several ask.

Steve - a small piece of advice... Watch the first and last seasons... the seasons in the middle are why it lost its audience and was canceled... I LOVE the 4th season... its what good trek is all about. :thumbsup

Then afterward go back and see the mess in the middle...
