Yes, I was reading about how hot it is and that it can wrinkle decals. Frankly, I've heard the same thing about MicroSOL but also that once it dries the wrinkles disappear. Would you suggest testing it on a scrap section of the decal sheet before applying it to one on a model then?

Yes.

I use Micro Sol first and if that does do it then the other. Sometimes I just use it on the edges if they peal up a bit. I usually put the decals on with water. Then dab or blot with paper towel. Then Micro Sol and last in the tough areas the Solvaset. Works great.

Yes the wrinkles will go away. Still sometimes I carefully keep going back over them wit a very soft brush and smooth them until they stay. Helps with the silvering too.

8 hours and this is what I have so far. Things sped up once I got past all that detail near the bridge and the 2 humps. I had to cut out and break up so many decals in to smaller ones or you will screw up. After awhile you start to see double and triple. So I had to stop when I got a few slightly off center and couldn't go back and correct them.

All and all I'm pleased and this bird gets a weathering job to boot once all these crazy decals are on.

This isn't a job for the faint hearted or short tempered. Several times decals broke on me and some rolled under. I had to remove them and put them back in the water and re capture to paper after getting the roll unders out again. And even then sometimes they do it again and I'd repeat the procedure.

The top of the saucer is nearly done and I should move on to the lower section next which doesn't look as hard. I thought this would take a couple of days. More like 5.

She is STUNNING!!! Steve , please excuse if this is a dumb question, will you seal the aztecing decals before you put the "NX-01" and "ENTERPRISE'' decals on? I agree those decals are worth every penny and every fried brain cell.

Looks dead on to me...colour, tone, contrast, the woiks!
Thanks Steve, yes i googled solvaset, but i'm in the Uk and no one seems willing to ship overseas due to it's flammable nature:cry.

Its a low process but man look at it. imaging how long it would take to 'try" and replicate that in paint ;) My head hurst thinking about that... I've had these decals for a long time waiting forme to get to this build... In fact I am the one that bugged ACreation to make them for this ship after picking up his Refit decals (x2)... so I might be the first to have them ;) I was impressed at the decals just looking at them on paper... after seeing this though its gone to new heights.

You can bet on it. Must seal first. Then wait another day to dry.

Thanks Space Rat.

I think these are better than the ones that came with me refit or maybe it's because they are over silver instead of white.

Thanks!

Lets see. 10 more hours today and I got everything on except the the lower half of the engineering hull on and the saucer bottom. With any luck I'll have that all done tomorrow around this time.

Clear on Saturday. Sunday the decals that came with the kit. More clear on Monday. A bit of touch up paint here and there and done. I think.

Everytime I see this build, I think it's the best I've seen it, or any other. Then Steve does a post, and I'm proven wrong...

Wow.
