Have you ever considered something that isn't traditional armor? How about mecha? Macross, Appleseed, a male version of the Bubblegum Crisis gear would be impressive, too.

Personally, I've always been partial to something like Centurions, MASK, or Visionaries from 80's cartoons.

I know Star Wars is over done but I personally like to twist the things you like into one. Take for instance this idea. Darth Vader and Shredder (TMNT) have the same outfit idea going roughly. Long cape, body armor and a helmet that looks damn close. So what to do, merge them and make a Darth Shredder outfit. A bad ass ninja Vader with lightsaber shredder iron claws.

You can find unique but cool characters all over the place. Doing a build that not a lot of other people are doing is fun and rewarding.

Back on Star Wars: What about the AT AT driver? Don't think I've ever seen that one done. Something about the trooper-meets-vader (because of the chest box) look always drew me. My first choice would be TIE pilot, but AT AT driver is #2.

It looks like it could be one of two things: either a high-collar cape, or a tiered cape (I am leaning toward the latter.) Below is a pic of a cape featuring both a high collar and multiple tiers, to illustrate the differences.
