hi all. ive been building props and costumes for a few years now. i usually post my progress on my fb page but i figured id share here as well. after doing pep builds for some time ive decided its time to level up and get into sculpting. ive never sculpted anything prior to this, so i used a $20 airsoft mask that looked similar to crossbones as a base and overlayed monster clay over it. i didnt have a headform so i used a bunch of cardboard hot glued together and its holding everything so far.

as you can see the brows are curved , the chin juts out like a moon, the nose bridge is too far out, cheeks pulled in, and overall depth doesnt pass the ears. ive corrected these, and the funny thing is the more ive worked on it, the more im leading to believe this is exactly how the marvel prop dept went about CB, seeing as how low budget and easily available the rest of the costume is.
i trimmed off the connector knobs on the outside, cut out the screen holder parts of the eyes, and the mouth part as it stuck out too far to look correct if i just covered it with material, and made my "headform".
globbed on about 2 pounds of clay for the general shape, also making the chin a bit lower
work on the eye shapes, correcting the brows, enlarging the forehead and extending the overall depth
smoothening the nose and mouth area trying to get as screen accurate as possible, and angles added above the eyes
still working on adding the side details atm. if youd like to check out my other works, my facebook page is Vertigo Props.
