Thanks! And yeah, when it's done and molded I plan on doing a run!
If your interested, be looking for a thread in the junkyard in a few weeks hopefully!

Re: creature from the black lagoon mask sculpt

thank you! ill have to search for KNB to see theirs!

and im hoping in the next few years to get the full suit made, but it'd a HUGE project for me as ive never done a ful body sculpt! this is really the first sculpt ive ever done other than a godzilla head that i never really finished...

edit: wow, i just watched the united monster talent agency trailer and it was amazing! i dont know how i havent seen that before! the creature suit looked amazing, and its really the only one ive ever seen made that was that good! (ive only seen 2 others and they were less than impressive xD)
There's actually a documentary on them, called The Nightmare Factory-check it out!

great job man, that looks really movie quality, im sure prows can learn a thing or two from you haha

Re: creature from the black lagoon mask sculpt

Wow! This just totally reminded me of "Creature Feature", which was a show that would play classic horror movies every Saturday afternoon when I was a kid. I remember that one underwater scene in the Creature from the Black Lagoon, where the creature is swimming below the female lead. I thought that was such a good, but scary scene.

Great job on this!

Re: creature from the black lagoon mask sculpt

Hi,
Just saw this thread. Your doing a great job. I have photos of the Creature Mask for the second movie. I did a preservation on it for a collector. It's the head used with the working gills.

Wow! That's really amazing! I'd love to see any pics you have and really any information on it or the other masks you may have! I've seen a few foam filled masks on eBay that say they were from a preservation effort to save the molds or the mask or something, but have never seen any other info on in.
It's a shame that they resculpted the mask for the second movie though, it came out way to round to me :/ I'd love to know how the gills operated though! I have my theory's but I haven't found any evidence to prove it.

Thanks for the post! I hope to hear back from you!

Re: creature from the black lagoon mask sculpt

finaly think im done with the sculpt!!
let me know what you guys think and if you have any ideas on how to make it better!

now ive got to mold it which im really nervous about... ive never done a 2 part mold before, and im not sure what material to use. i have hidrocal from monstermakers.com, but im scared of using it because its a one shot thing and if i mess up theres no way to remold. im also thinking about using silicone with a hard mothermold. ive had experience using silicone and am more comfortable with it, but ive been told before that lated and silicone done really like eachother... so would it be posible to cast a latex mask in a silicone mold? im also planning on doing resin or latex foam filled busts so think the silicone would be better.. so any tips?

thanks!

heres some pics!

Re: creature from the black lagoon mask SCULPT DONE! need advice on molding

Been quite an audience of this build from the start... I just reserved my thoughts and smile..:)

Honestly, I have no idea what this creature is, so I have to google it up just to be educated... lol:lol... (you should've see me saying to myself "so that's what he's talking about"... lol:behave)

You've done superbly well my friend...:):thumbsup

It looks more friendly than scary though...:D

Cant help with the molding though since I have no experience on rubber mask making myself...

At any rate, do more research and hopefully some experienced member will pop out to help...

Good luck and congrats for a job well done so far (y)thumbsup
