I've decided to go as the iconic Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro - Taxi Driver) for Halloween this year.
I have my American Optical Pilot shades sorted, my M1965 jacket and have ordered my replica patches (King Kong company etc).
All I have left is to figure out how I will create a convincing mohawk without actually shaving my head. For those unaware De Niro didn't shave his head for the movie but had a bald cap created by Dick Smith.
Anyone tried anything like this before? It would be great to have some input on how to achieve this. I rang a local FX store and they recommended either punching the hair or using crepe hair and gluing on the hair (though I can't imagine the latter process achieving a good result)
Edit: Some photos for reference
