Alrighty...
Here's the premise:
One of my favorite LotR characters, Gil-Galad, gets around 5 seconds of screentime in the entire trilogy, yet he has some of the coolest armor and weaponry.
Recently, I saw Weta is offering presales on a miniature version of his kingly shield.
This made me think of a certain full-sized shield already made...
I'm thinking this: an extra 'plate' to put over the top part of the shield... Something with a low melting temp that I can just heat up and conform it to the shape of the shield... some epoxy putty for the detailing on the plate, and a new paint job, and I've converted an ordinary Elven shield into Gil-Galad's shield.
Any advice starting out? This might not get off the ground for a while- I've no sculpting experience, no heating-up-plastic-and-forming-it-over-something experience, and then there's the fact that I don't actually *own* one of these Elven shields yet :lol
