Just found these again the other day - never got around to posting 'em!
First up, a Jacoby grenade - made from a 6cm polystyrene ball (as shown) & a short section of plastic tube for the neck, wrapped in tinfoil & covered with super sculpey (sculpey shouldn't come into contact with polystyrene), then baked the scul[ey with a heat gun:
Painted silver then black - but I jammed a fishing weight into the bottom of the polystyrene ball, then filled over it before I slapped on the clay.
Now it wobbles like a Weeble, but won't fall down!
I tried to find some indoor sparklers for the pic, but I just fudged it with some stiff cord.
And secondly, Gibbs' leather flask / bottle - this was a trial run in some black leather I had laying around - turned out, not the right grade.
Pre-punched holes and glued around the edge of the leather together, then stitched using two needles with some waxed thread.
Soaked it in water for a while, then stuffed it full of sand (not fine enough to bulk out the shape, and allowed to dry (I warmed the sand first).
I should have soaked the insides with wax or something after removing the sand, but I wasn't planning on drinking from it.
BTW- the 'donut effect' seen on the bottle is from the round-shaped leather being pushed in - when full it would more resemble a gourd.
The 'bung' was made from a sawn-off section of broomhandle, drilled a hole through it, then wrapped leather cord through & around it.
Here's the pattern I drew up - It's about 6 inches high:
And you can find the real how-to I used here:

The two together:
Couple of fun little projects.
