Hey I'm new to the RPF and this is an older project but it was fun and I'm still happy with it in general. I'm a professional Special Effects artist now but this was a school project back in 2006. I guess it's technically a scratch-build and kit-bash type of thing.
I used blueprints as underlays and modelled the corsair in Rhino:
Then laid it out to be cut with a CNC router, cut from high-density urethane foam, like a prototyping board.
Then assembled and coated with polyester resin
Then I kit-bashed and fabricated all the details, as well as vacuum forming the fuselage. The rotary cannon on the front was created by machining one barrel, moulding and casting copies, then assembling them through several laser-cut discs that held them in a perfect array.

Then to complete the requirements for the class, we created various compositions in photoshop to show our miniature as it could be filmed:
