Coollekotten's Art

Kind of late reply, but a THANK YOU PEOPLE nonetheless.

Reyals, I am working on a bigger drawing of Scout/Ripper. ;) He deserves it. I thought of him as a predator that is very often traveling around, scouting areas of whatever. So his armor is light weight and more down to earth you might say. Apart from his weapon - a sort of scythe that I have a few new thoughts about. If that drawing goes well I will tell you all about it.

Munson, the rib back armor is something I have planned to do on my viking pred - when that happens. But everyone is welcomed to use some ideas I have on the accessory pic. I'd be more then happy to see something get build of it. ;)

Tomek/Thomas, thank you! The pred face you're talking about is how I picture Mr Giggles. Might do a better pic of that face someday I rather like the mandibles I did on it.

The P1 is going ok for now, Im not satisfied with the legs so I will try and sort that out. NO WIP pics will be posted of that though.

Have a nice weekend everyone, you guys are awesome!

Hello,

I thought it was time to post up some accessory- and armor ideas that I have been drawing, I forgot to take one photo of some more dreadrings but its not finished anyways...
So here is a couple of ideas I have for back armor (full view is recommended):

And a few various ideas (and of course the Scout pred I drew earlier):

I have more that is not finished yet.

AND!!
I have been debating wether or not to post this up as a wip... I wrote earlier that it would NOT be posted up as one, but now I cant really figure out if the leg still looks bad or his body looks too short, so I need your (whoever reads this) help. o_O
You see, the only reference pic I have of this pose, is the one seen in the movie:
Predator_116.jpg

And as you might recall, IT IS DARK in that scene. So Im looking at other reference pictures to help me create this ugly mug but still remain true to the pose/scene. I always liked that scene. Anytime just leans over and sits there like "Dude, I see the spikes. Try harder."

So here it is, my P1 in the making:

Help!

Thank you and have a great weekend

eh, I tried to brighten and clarify it a bit. I am not sure it helped at all

I do not think the leg is too small. It is coming "at us" after all, giving it a smaller height appearance. I think it looks great. As usual, inspiring work. o_O

Oh HELLO! Thats bad ass Nicole! His left side bulges a bit, whereas his right side is more flat - maybe even them out a bit? Other than that, this is gonna look sweet when its done!

His torso is "scrunched" as he is stooping over to look in. I think it looks accurate when compared to the screen still, but I am no artist. o_O

Thank you guys!
I have changed his left side abit, made it more smoother, and also the leg. The leg is more straight down now then before but the lenght issue stands - also what happens to his lower leg that I think he is sitting on, having trouble with that. It looks... bad. The tummy and belt is a questionmark too, but I think I can work it out. :D
I have also begun with some more spots on his body, I saw that I made it too dark on some places. I also added some chest hair.

JehdinThwei, I also lighted the picture like that and got the same result. But using other reference pictures helps alot with figuring out what goes where. Still, a better picture would be preferable but I cant have everything.
BUT I might also darker that area up more (in the leg area) and make it closer to the screen cap, but then again I do NOT want to take the easy route and just go crazy with a 6B pencil making it pitch black. Ah.. choices, choices.
But a challange is never wrong.

Have a great week everyone. o_O

I so love the "spine" backarmor... And I think I owe you some work, just have been caught up lately with all the projects going on.

Skullsplitter, it is always fun to see some more artwork by you. Your sculpting of that leg armor is coming along nicely btw! o_O
Chris, thank you. I have some more ideas floating around my big head so will be drawing them down when time permits.

Thank you guys!

Next update? What are you talking about, Jason?

You will be old and weary when that happens....
J/K  I have begun a bit on the surroundings but nothing major, will draw some this evening I thought. Whenever I have something worth showing/updating I will of course post it for you guys. Your help and comments are ALWAYS appreciated. But I believe the updates will only occure on weekends, when I can borrow a good camera.

Oh, and I am not looking for the P1 to be 100% accurate, I will make some things different - like how he keeps his hands and leg. But since the scene is so dark I dont think people will think of it anyway.

And thank you Lee and Casey!
Lee, Im very fond of that picture myself :D In the short story I made about him, something bad (or good depends on how you see it) happend right before this scene, so now he is more or less laughing his ass off in the tree. But you can view it in different ways of course!
I will get a scanned and better version of that drawing so you guys can view it better. I drew it very light so the camera barely picked the image up. :/
I have ALOT of drawings now that needs to get proper scanned to view all details... some day.

Thank you and have a nice week!

UPDATE as promised:

p1_wip_2_by_coollekotten-d3f8xbj.jpg

I have changed his left leg since the last pic. I made it more straight down and I think I have figured it out how he stands. Now it is his right leg that looks a bit odd so if anyone has any ideas about that - I appreciate any critic you have!

Started with the surroundings also, going to work on the leaves some more but not now. I have worked a bit on his hands and arms too, and I realised he was too fat so I took him to the fitness center - in other terms, he got a meeting with my eraser. Looks much better now when I also straightened out his chest armor.

Any help about his legs or some other thing you notice, is much appreciated. ;)

Have a great weekend!

Oh Nicole...I love you...your art is so impressive. I just love seeing your work. I'm not trying to kiss your ass..I just want you to know how awesome your stuff is and how incredible talented you are.

I think the idea for the right leg is there. Look at how someone's leg looks IRL when they are crouched like that and then draw it...you can complete this and make it look killer and kick ass.

Jason... you are so kissing my ass right now. :p
But I needed the smile, now when it is snowing outside. Not kidding. It is snowing.

I have come a long way in my drawingskill since I became I member here. I have said it before and I say it again; this place made me become better at what I do, and I love every second of it! You guys keep me going further. :(
I hope I someday have something more concrete to show you, like suit parts and so on. I still have not painted the mask from Tonkers, but I am planning on doing so this summer when weather gets warmer and now when I finally got some money to spare on paint.
I have looked back at some drawings I did three years ago, and it really shows that I have made progress since I became a member here (which was soon three years ago). I have to thank you guys, amongst others, for that. THANK YOU!

And Jason, I love seeing your work. You better have good burglary alarm in your house otherwise I might sneek in and nick one of those P1 masks from you.
Thihi 'nick'. :p

Such a bad pun...
ANYWAY!!

I have made P1s left arm and hand, and begun with the other. Also made some more of the surroundings. No update pic this day, but might show one this weekend. I have planned to visit my mums job this friday to scan in ALOT of drawings. I have fought with the scanner before and I usually go crazy before I get it all to work, so wish me luck!

Thank you guys and have a great week.

Keep cranking put those marvellous drawings, many small parts produce a library of cool designs :(

And some art takes time, I should've started sculpting ten years ago, but even so, I enjoy making stuff now just as well...
