Cool paint technique we were using at work

I work in theatre and our painter was experimenting with Methyl Hydrate the other day.

After a washy scumble on the floor, she did a layer of flat glaze.

Then she did some random washes of grey.

BEFORE the grey dried, she spattered some methyl hydrate on the wet paint and it repelled the grey, leaving some very cool textures. Almost like using the salt technique with models. I'll try it with an airbrush as soon as I get a moment.

That's a standard faux concrete finish in the film industry. You can also add in mica flakes for the pearlescent

Haven't tried it through the airbrush, the painters on Supergirl used pump action chemical sprayers

I think they used something similar throughout the Prequel movies. I remember seeing some set pics of something similar. It's hard to see here, but it looks like they did something like that on the Mustafar sets:

The important step is a base coat of clear floor wax. The other colours get added before the wax dries and then the methyl hydrate
