This is what I was afraid of and has been a bane to all contests such as this. It is the same principle as machined vs non-machined entries.
I can make a "sonic" light up and make sound, but if it looks like crap then it isn't going to win anything.
In keeping with the contests of old, you should keep your parts and construction to yourselves until after the contest, but you will be allowed to send a video to me to post. Think about the $1 saber contest. There was a reveal saber. That member shouldn't have to change their design based on if others could or could not make a reveal.
The owner's names will be kept secret until the end of the contest to stop the popularity contest from happening.
Most might not remember this, but there was a custom saber contest many years ago that , if I recall correctly, BobaDebt won. His entry was made from a knive, some toothbrushes and other found parts. Just because someone can add electronics to it doesn't mean that it is going to win.
Don't sell yourself short, make your Sonic and enter it. Like the P90X commercial says, "Do your best and forget the rest"
In my best R. Lee Ermy voice, NOW MOVE IT AND MAKE ME SOME SONIC SCREWDRIVERS!!!!!!! I GOT SONIC SCREWS TO DRIVE AND NOTHING TO DRIVE THEM WITH!!!!!
I agree 1000% - Functional Parts & Electronics should have NO effect on judging &/or voting And telling everybody on the RPF - about what your SS does or is made of - should be Prohibited as it may intimidate less experienced members from even trying or making an SS that has similar features.
Nor should pics show lights, sound (on youtube) or moving parts.
The contest should concentrate on the Design of the SS's - it's size, shape & details.
