VERY nice, Tim.  Who did the 3D, and using what software?

I'll send you all the details.

Looking good on the ArtCAM model, Clay. :thumbsup

The best way to gauge interest would be to post an interest thread in the junkyard once you have photos of the metal prototype. A stated price point is always recommended in order to gauge the replica's affordability and popularity (keep in mind that the majority of members here are not even 18 yet...).

As for finish, as Tim and I discussed, since the movie prop was gold plated, that would be the most accurate way to go, although not sure about most economical or aesthetic, since bright gold plating would wash out much of the text and graphics, as it would fill the engravings and be highly reflective. Brass, on the other hand, can polish up nicely, and after it begins to tarnish over time, the text and graphics become darker and remain that way after future cleanings, thus creating a nice contrast with the outer surfaces. Also, the text can be filled in with black oxide or paint and the whole thing coated in a protective anti-oxidant layer to preserve the shine.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Can't compete with that. Go brass.

Good to see you running well with this project, Clay. :thumbsup Hope to see the first run soon.

Brass. Brass. Brass. Brass. :D

Being a newbie, I won't be able to post in the JY interest thread, but I'm definitely interested and will be sure to PM you (FB) when the JY thread appears.

Lookin' good. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

After that seems like brass is the desired product. Not a problem there either.

Excellent. :love

Patience my friends--anything worth having is worth waiting for...

As with Christmas, the anticipation is half the fun. (Well, okay, a third of the fun.)

Thanks for the update. Eagerly awaiting more news. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup
