Coming up with a bat suit of my own

Holy infinite mirror Batman

OK I’ll stop
maybe.
so I’ve managed to make some dents into the neck piece to get it to flex enough l, for my not so thick neck to get through it l, and it worked.

I made more dents than I thought I would at first, but it allowed to redistribute the tension and avoid cracking.
Might be enough for today. The next part, which I didn’t think would be the more demanding, is getting the jaw piece to connect correctly.

I like the it! Is it a particular cowl design? I don't recognize it.
It’s in my first post! It’s the unused cowl for the Anne Affleck movie that never happened. The first one I bought was a bit too small but this one fits… the jaw piece will need some modifying sadly. Still, very happy.

Hi guys, well the picture is pretty straightforward. Bought a bit of brass sheets, the small darker parts will be that. As well as the triangle underneath the chest. Other wise the plates will be black aluminum sheets, 1/32”, light, easy to cut. And easy to glue I hope. Also the plates won’t be cut down the center, I prefer three central plates.

A bit of fun with a JLA grapnel gun…. Time to put a retractable wire in there, attached to a hook I’ll get shortly

Came across a portable folding anchor, that with some tweeting will fit in the barrel. If that wasn’t an inspiration for the grapnel hook, from the Ben bat arsenal, then I don’t know what.

Welp, a lot of sanding later, it’s in, as the saying goes. Next, primer, paint, get those 2 wire things ( those things for keys) inside, connect both wires to the hook.

Well, I’m done with the metal paint part. Once dries some parts like the barrel will be darkened. That said I’m not sure if the brown colour goes all the way up to the upper part you can see in the picture... Is that the case? James ? lol.

Captains log. Star date something something. Thanks to the feedback received and a bunch of YouTube videos, I go forward. Paint will be finished shortly, than time to put the pieces together.

Hi James! And anyone else watching of course. Things have moved forward quite a bit. I managed to get both of the wire things into the empty barrel of the grapnel gun. On a scale of One to 10 in terms of fun factor…this was a minor 50.

here’s a few pictures of the process of getting the black things to fit ( that’s right two of them…) and getting the wire to the other end. I don’t think I do this again for free to be honest, but I’m proud of the result.

mind you there’s still some touchups to do on the paint but it works, and I don’t think there’s a lot of similar semi functional pieces going around, not that model.

Since I’m by myself right now there no one to hold on to the phone and make a decent video, but here’s what I could do for now:

The painting isn’t quite done but what the heck:

( is the video working for you guys?)

The hook is 0.7 kg, which is comparatively heavy since the grapnel is hollow and weights nothing. It’s much easier for the hook to go back quickly if on the floor. Otherwise I need to assist it a little.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.... now I understand your comments about getting the black spools to fit and the wires into place - that thing actually works!!!!! At least in one direction ;-)

Thanks for your support James. Next is putting the armour pieces I have on a mannequin. Putting the pieces together and making final choices will be easier that way.

Just got the abs armour I had printed. It matches very well with the chest piece I’ve had for years!!

So I did my best with the spray paint, but there’s still some marks even though the paint has dried. I might have to go over it all with a thin coat of paint with paintbrush.

What do you think James!? or anyone else of course.the thing above the symbol is a buckle from which to Cape will be held, I think I’d rather go with one centered, than two… to get a cape that’s held from the centre rather than from the sides. I think it looks good?
