Not sure if everyone is aware that the A CHRISTMAS STORY CHRISTMAS will be coming out next year. It is the first sequel to feature much of the original cast, including Peter Billingsley, reprising his role of Ralphie. The cast has already wrapped up filming in Bulgaria, of all places, and it should be out before Christmas in 2023.

It will be set in the 1970’s and revolve around Ralphie and Randy returning to their childhood home for the holidays. It will finally be nice to see a true sequel with the original cast involved, unlike the 2012 debacle, lol. Though, this won’t even be the second attempt at a sequel… there are actually 2 sequels and 4 prequels in the ACS universe already:

I had no idea there were so many other iterations of Ralphie. I knew there was that sequel several years ago, I remember seeing the dvd in Walmart, but I never watched it.

I just purchased the book In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash, and am planning on reading it around the holidays this year. I'm curious to see how much the short stories align with the movie.

There were several made-for- TV movies using the Parker family, with multiple different actors throughout the years.

However, this new/most recent movie is not the FIRST official Christmas Story sequel.... THAT dubious honor goes to the following:

But the cast is considering the new one, the official sequel to the original film. They are ignoring all other iterations, and this is the direct sequel. Outside of My Summer Story, which was decent, the rest sucked. Lol

Melinda Dillon is now 83 years old, and (having older parents myself); often there are mental and physical ailments that limit elderly actors/actresses from performing at that age. At least they hired the famous (and younger) Julie Hagerty...
