Here is my take on the Ultimate comicbook version of the Cap. I made a total of 4 masks the 1st being the pattern, then using deerskin leather, I started sewing. I am a novice at sewing but find that it is not that difficult, just have to be patient.
My first attempt

Second attempt white deerskin, the color came out so wrong I was slightly miffed

Finally the 3rd attempt Success using blue suede which I also used for the scales!!! Abit tougher to sew than the deerskin.

Really like those scales! Questions:

1) Are the scales made from felt, or is that foam?
2) What would you call the tool you're punching the scales out with?
3) How are you attaching them to the suit? Looks like a tight fitting shirt, and you're gluing them on?

Thanks,

The scales are cut from suede using a belt tip tool from Tandy leather
I am infact using contact glue to attach the scales onto an underarmor coldgear hoodie that was white, leather dye worked quite well on it.

Very Nicely done!

How did you do the Gloves and Boots, did you use patterns or make them yourself?

I would suggest making the Chest Star a little Smaller and move the Belt lower to show off more of the Red and White Stripes, otherwise the costume looks great!!

I got the boots from ebay and painted them with Duplicolor vinyl paint, the gloves I found on ebay as well.
I patterened the whole costume at least the upper half from the Sideshow statue bust that came out a couple years ago.
The reason the pants are high is that is how it fits the mannikin (waist to leg length thing) not to mention my waist size is a little bit bigger than the mannikin so I am using a clamp to hold the pants up.

Thanks for the info. May have to see if I can apply it. :)

I love what you've done with your mask design. Do you have any drawings/ photos of the patterns you used to sew together?
I'd like to try this myself!
Awesome Work!
