Question Combining Paper Prop threads

Is there any way to enforce the rules for paper prop threads so that each movie has only one thread?

The new members clearly haven't read the rules and have started posting individual topics.

Thanks!

*edit: I only asked the question due to the number of Harry Potter threads popping up, some of which don't even have the movie title in the thread title.

Would you want one thread for one movie when that movie may have multiple paper props? To me that would seem confusing if you are trying to research or develop a particular prop and you have all these other conversations going on around it about other paper props from the movie.

Then again, I might not understand. I think I do though.

That is what the rules for posting in that section say to do. One thread per movie, and all props go in that thread.

"This forum is dedicated to the discussion and sharing of free paper props.

Please follow these guidelines.

1) Each movie/TV show/VG will have only one thread that will contain all of it's paper props.

2) Use the movie/TV show/VG title that is listed in the Internet Movie Database. www.imdb.com

3) If the title begins with "The" start the title with the next word and place ", The" at the end. ("The Dark Knight" would be "Dark Knight, The").

4) In the case of remakes/re-imagining with identical titles, using the year for movies and TOS for TV shows will be the preferred method to distinguish one from another. (Batman 1989, Battlestar Galactica: TOS)

5) When posting a paper prop, please be as descriptive as possible so that it will be easy to find via the search feature.

6) PLEASE SEARCH BEFORE CREATING A NEW THREAD. You can sort the threads alphabetically by title using the "Display Options" located in the lower left of the Paper Props main screen.

7) PLEASE SEARCH BEFORE CREATING A POST ASKING FOR A PARTICULAR PAPER PROP.

8) These paper props are being offered by the membership to the membership for free. It is now a violation of the MGL to attempt to sell any of these items.''

Thanks, Chris. I still think it would be better to have seperate threads, but I understand the need to keep things organized.

Its getting very confusing the last time...

The new members clearly haven't read the rules and have started posting individual topics.

Agree to that...

It seems no-one of the mods is checking the section... We have two constantine threads, another new Total Recall thread, and all these movies dont have so much paper props. It would be wonderful if posts were moved in the right threads, otherwise we will have tons of threads concerning the same movies the next time...

We periodically go through the paper props forum and combine threads that pertain to the same movie. We do allow research threads to stay on their own until the final item is posted, then it is merged into the existing thread (if there is one). Due to some other active projects we have not done a mass merge in awhile, but a number of threads have been merged as they have come up.

As a reminder, the point of that sub-forum is related stricly to freely shared paper props, not research or WIP for items that will be offered for sale, or not shared freely with the membership.

Ok, but how about the movie business cards thread (2 of them) incl. cards we have in the special movie thread...

I dont think its not a problem of research and shared paper props. Its a problem of new members and old members, new members often dont care about any rules in this section...

I believe the business card thread was stared before the sub-forum was created and was missed when we moved threads over to the new sub-forum. It was recently bumped, noticed and moved to the sub-forum.

I understand what the problem is, I only mentioned the sharing part as a reminder and FYI for other members that may be viewing this thread. :)

the free paper forum has a lot of new members who ignore the rules and do what they want-a while back several pointless threads relating to harry potter were made, without even "harry potter" in the thread title- and ALL by the same member asking stupid questions whitch should have gone in exsisting threads.

other issues:
-members reposting other people images all the time
-members double posting and/or asking the same thing repeatly, without even searching for themselves
-members who don't even make an effort to use proper english
-members who don't even seem to care about basic ettiqute and respect

Paper props NEEDS beeter policing and rule enforcing!

would it be possible to make the Paper Prop Forum rules more visible when entering the area, like a banner or somthing? also some members don't seem to have very good english and may not understand?

Also, how about more resctricted access for the Paper prop area? like a certain number of posts required? because as it is you can just sign up and access it without any posts- I bet recasters and theives would rather not post, to make them harder to track- or can staff see everyone who viewed a thread and when?

rant over:)
