Color of Y-wing piping?

On the Y-wing models, some of the piping details are painted in the main body color, and others are painted some other color - does anyone know just what this other color is? It looks sort of rusty-brown in photos, but I have also heard it is metallic copper. Anyone know for sure?

Does anyone know what is more "canon"? I noticed some on the Chronicles book where there is alot of copper pipe, but not in some other references I have.

It was copper tubing left unpainted.

Are you sure? I know they used rubber coated electrical wire (green) for the majority of piping of the Red Y Wing. There are several places where the paint didnt cover and you can see the green rubber underneath.

The smaller stuff was styrene covered brass rod.

Interesting on the cooper tubing any info would be greatly appreciated.

Steve,

I visited the Yurba Buena exhibit years ago with an old timer ILMer and he relayed that while I oggled the glass staring at the Y. This Y-wing had visible copper (not brass or wire) tube unpainted. I will try and find photos. I believe there were three on display, Bill George's and two ANH ones.
BTW, phone me about the AT-ST. I need to get that back into shape.
