Hello,

For the recent Planet Comicon in Kansas City, I made a Cobra Commander and Baroness costumes for me and my wife.

Cobra Commander
The main helmet is a modified cobra trooper helmet that I added the faceshield.

The uniform and belts I made myself.

Baroness
I made the body armor, holsters, and vambraces.

The body suit was purchased.

The belt is a modified Batman belt.

Man those costumes ROCK !!! :love

How long did it take to get those together?

What other outfits do you have?

I really like what you did. If you don't mind me asking what is the piece attaching the webbing to your wife's armor?

Looks great. I would have your wife flat iron her hair to make it board straight. The Baroness usually has very black hair, I think your wife's dark brown is fine but brown and wavy takes away from the 'look'. Brown would be less noticeable if her hair was straight.

Both costumes look fantastic, you got them right !

My wife's costume took about 12 hours to make.

Mine took a bit longer, maybe 24 hours of work.

Here are some of my other endeavors:

Henry IV last year for an SCA event. I fought in this armor all day. :)

Thanks very much for the positive feedback!

Yeah, the hair color is the one piece we just cant get right. We have tried colored hair spray and even temporary hair dye, but nothing has worked out well yet.

I think our next step is to invest in a good wig. If anyone has a good course for those, please share them with me. :)

Very nice. What did you use for the faceshield?

Its a Vega full face shield. If you go to your local motorcyle dealer and look at the Vega 3/4 helmets, you will see this face shield. You can pick it up for about $20.

I can get you the exact product # if you like.

Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention. I installed a piece of aluminum flat stock (1/16th thick and 3/4 in wide) on the inside bottom of the faceshield to help bring the corners in and narrow the face.

Something I noticed with many Commander helmets is the faceshield looked too wide. This flat stock narrowed the bottom considerably and I think gave it a better look.

The faceshield is removable and velcros to the inside of the helmet.

Cool costumes! I love the vintage Cylon/Baroness picture. Do you have plans to paint it in Chrome or are you going for the matte look?

Also, who made the vader helmet?

I never got a chance to chrome it before I sold it. :)

The Vader helmet I bought off of Ebay for a Reveal project (I dont know who the original sculpter was). I wanted to make a wearable Vader Reveal Helmet.

It started off as a standard two piece helmet. I used a Dremel to cut the face plate into a lower jaw and upper face portion. I then rebuilt the sections using Apoxy sculpt and made it so that the two halves would connect. I added the reveal components including a high power magnet for locking the dome into place.

This was the helmet after I cut it apart and did the body work:
