I bought a sample kit from lighttape.com. you can get them in various lengths, mine was 2" wide and that's just electrical tape on top to create the design.

I ordered off of lighttape.com. The sample kit comes with an inverter. Mine runs off of a 9 volt battery.

The pieces in the pocket area and in the bit hanging off the bottom are actually glow shoe laces I bought off of amazon. They were like $6 for a pair, and that was all I had on version 1.0. I added the light tape later but the shoe laces were good for on a budget tron gear. another advantage is that it is completely flexible compared to EL wire.
