My front transistor is a real one. What I did was stick the wires through the hole on the clamp and then bent them over and epoxied them on the inside. The back one is where the charging port is. I describe how I did it in the other thread.

Yeah, I read that thread as it was being posted. Your explanation and diagrams were greatly helpful, thank you!

My thought was to use some Loctite epoxy putty for installing the Transistors. That should keep them secured them to the Clamp, don't know how good it'll work, but I guess I'll find out?

Hi TomVDJ,

You need to run a drill through the square hole on the side of the graflex clamp where the lever is to round it out . So that the lever can turn and you will be able to tighten the clamp more. I tighten it enough so that when the lever is in the lock position the clamp won't move. When I want to open for the reveal I flip the lever forward to loosen the clamp enough to allow me to twist and open it up.

I can tighten the clamp (I can twist the lever without a problem if I just press both sides together a bit, but then when I close it when the chamber is closed, it feels like I'm putting to much pressure on the clamp when closing it (when the chamber is in open position, then this is not the case), and I'm afraid to break it. Also the rims of the clamp where the bubble strip slides into, are not parrallel anymore when I tighten it too much.

So I'm looking for a solution where I can put the clamp in place someway or another, without needing to tighten it. I was thinking about screwing the clamp in place with the transistors or something like that... But I have nothing to screw it into. I'm not putting electronics in mine, so maybe a solid spacer where the crystal chamber screws onto, and which has holes for the Roman's replica transistors to screw into, would be just perfect...

You could try putting a thin piece of foam under the clamp.

Anyone have any tips on removing the crystal? I removed the set screw to what i thought was holding the holder into place, but i cant budge it...

It fit's pretty thight, but when you unscrew the set screw, you should be able to push the crystal with the brass holder and the aluminum cylinder (the brass holder screws into that inner cylinder) out of the chamber...

Awesome... I'll give it a shot... I was able to wiggle it a bit, but I wasn't sure if there wasn't another way... that and I haven't found an Allen key that will fit the main body set screws yet so I cant get the clamp base out of the way...

I can't get the clamp base off at all for some reason. I just ended up leaving it on and pushing it all the way through.
Could anyone else get the clamp base off? It's super tight, I can't even budge it. I wanted to take it off to drill and tap it for the transistor...

I used a 7/8" dowel and mallet to tap the pieces apart

You need English / US measured alan keys (in inches). The European versions (in mm's) won't do...

You should slide the clamp (9) over the chamber (1), then thread the booster (2) onto the bottom portion of the crystal chamber (1).
Then thread the sink knob (3) onto the booster (2).

On the top portion it looks like you have a static version.
Take a bolt (4) that you have and put it through the middle of the part with the holes all around it (5), and put part 5 through part (6) they should fit tight.
Take part 7 and thread on part 8.

Take the bolt (4) with part 5/6 and thread into part 8.

Then, you can take that whole top assembly 4,5,6,7,8 and thread onto the grenade section (1)

You need to buy some washers - I don't have the size to hand but I'm sure someone will. You stick a couple in booster (there's a narrow lip about half way down) then use one bolt to attach the pommel. The free end of the booster can then attach to the crystal chamber.
Next, remove the grenade from the chamber and put the other bolt up inside it. Add the neck sections in the right order and finally screw on the emitter. The bolt is a little too long, so you can stick some more washers into the grenade first, or you can cut the end of the bolt. Your choice.

Then, place the clamp over the chamber and screw the chamber to the grenade.

Oh. That pommel doesn't thread onto the booster? I have a different version of the back end. Sorry. Yes, you will need to use the bolt to put the booster (2) to the sink knob (3) if yours doesn't thread together.

First of all I have to thank both of your for your help and effort!
My main problem is attaching 3 with 2, since 2 is hollow and there's nothin I can use the screw with - so thanks for the hint with the washers. I will try it.
Is it normal that 5 comes loose in 6. It fits, but if I move the saber a bit 6 is always falling down.
7 is also loose and not tight.

My 7 seems to be threaded onto 8 so can be loosened or tightened. 5 also stays in place.
However, I got my saber second hand so this part was already assembled for me. I then used some lock tite on the chamber as this stops it loosening during use. However, it also means it's a pain to take it apart to show you. Sorry.

Have you checked Roman's own site for tutorials?

Hi, 4 holds 3 and 2 together. 4 bolts to the middle of 3. Can u send a pic of the inside of 2?

Also would u guys mind moving this discussion over to the mod thread, i wanted to use that thread for useful tips on assembling this chamber.
