CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

Fair opinion, but my kids & the kids that I teach are teens now, & without the influence of critics & internet opinions, they loved the last 3. I guess I feel strongly because I've had full grown adults in a video store, loudly & forcefully tell my kids & some of their friends why the prequels were horrible & question their intelligence for liking them.:angry. I obviously wasn't there.

As far as the perception of the OT, anytime a film does something groundbreaking, accolades are flowing, but when the creator tries to complete the story they want to tell, fans take ownership of the first film & the wishes of the creator are out the window. Probably the best & most recent example of this are the Matrix movies.

But I don't want to hijack a CW thread. Thanks for the discussion though.:thumbsup

I would never, ever question someone else's intelligence for liking something, child or adult. I do understand how prominently the prequels play into the current generation's psyche and that they may potentially not like any SW at all had it not been for the prequels. Even I think the prequels had their redeeming moments...:lol Truth told, though, I think an awful lot coalesced around the time of the OT that served to mark that period indelibly, the relative innocence of the moviegoer him/herself not being the least of it. SW was indeed groundbreaking, with Empire and, perhaps to a lesser extent, Jedi as well, and they all made for some very serious impressions on a generation of people who took being dazzled a lot less for granted than today's folk, I think.

I haven't watched any yet this year. Which ones should I see, and which should I avoid?

I liked pretty much all of the episodes of this season so far but the droid mission arc episodes were definitely the weakest of this season and has received a lot of flak here.

oh wow! I wondered who they'd get. the late Ian Abercrombie was audibly so close a match. Tim Curry is great and I am surprised they were able to get him!

Yeah, but did you listen to him? He's godawful in the preview. There can't be many episodes with Palps left in this show, they couldn't have just paid McDiarmid enough to VOIP in some line reads?

Darth Frank-N-Furter will become more powerful than either of us! :lol

I'm glad they haven't asked him, or that he's declined. Palpatine w/ McDiarmid is a character I'd rather have saved for the big screen. I was happy with Abercrombie because he was such a good voice match. I think
Tim Curry is an awesome acting talent, but from what I heard on the clip, his voice isn't doing it for me as Palpatine...

other than the "take her away" the rest of Tim Curry's performance of Palpatine was just fine. once he said "take her away" it wasn't quite right to me...

I liked the theme and direction the finale' had... leaves it open for all kinds of new interpretation of how the inner workings of Palpatine's want for the inner decay of the Jedi Order to work to his advantage. Here's to season 6... on Disney XD! ? :confused :lol

going to be a long wait... usually the seasons don't even restart until October :cry:cry

Season 6 of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series is currently in production and will most likely air in fall of 2013. It was first officially announced by Dave Filoni in the Star Wars Insider magazine, though head writer Christian Taylor stated in September 2011 that they had already written through Season Six. A three-part story arc pertaining to Rush Clovis was originally scheduled to air in Season 5, but it was delayed, presumably, to the sixth season.

Agreed. Solid episode. Hate the see Ahsoka go, but I'm assuming she'll return in some capacity. Glad also to get hints of Anakin's dismay with the Jedi and that the order has lost its way.

Some silly, disposable episodes I could have lived without, but overall a decent season. Can't believe it's over just when it was getting so good.

I wonder if she will come upon or be a part of "the lost 20" ? of course we are assuming they became sith and probably killed each other leaving only Count Dooku and I don't think she would dabble in the dark side.... (no I haven't read any EU on that so strike me down with your hatred if that isn't how it went down :lol )
