CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

RebelForce Radio now reporting they are hearing CLONE WARS is in jeopardy of being canceled after this season despite Season 6 already deep in production. I would have to assume Filoni and crew knew this could be a possibility and created this arc to potentially wrap the series up if that edict came down as they have been aware of the acquisition since last year. I hope if they do cancel they still find a way to release Season 6 on DVD or something.

Interesting episode this morning. The part where Ahsoka goes 1312 and 1315 was probably put in there to give a preview of SW: 1313.

Isn't this one of the (if not the?) highest rated shows on Cartoon Network? What gives with cancellation... :confused

Great episode. The lighting was gorgeous, in particular. Is it me or are they using a lot more OT music lately? Anyway, I'm loving this arc.

It's not just you. The idea was to NOT use Williams music until such time as it created an emotional resonance, otherwise it would have diluted the impact of the music when it does appear in these Ahsoka episodes.

But selling it on video or on demand would generate money for them. I wonder if CN owns season 6 or if it was sold with the whole SW Lucasfilm deal....anyone know?

fun episode this weekend... was a bit confused as to why a sith like Ventress would even care about being pardoned by the council or let Ahsoka out of her clutches for a pardon... you'd think she would have at least stuck around with her at the ammo depot to keep her close by as a potential hostage should anything go wrong.... curious to know who the other Sith is that took Ventress' identity to kick Ahsoka's ass! Thought perhaps it was Sidious but seemed like the profile was female in shape... a great episode that titillated me with all kinds of mystery and questions... very exciting!

as for cancellation I'm sure that just means cancellation at CN... it will be moved to DisneyXD most certainly. Especially if season 6 is already done or nearing completion... no way that will just get shelved.

It was totally Barris Offee.

Fun episode. I also believe it's the woman "helping" Ahsoka. Classic element of mysteries is to have a character than seems like a good guy turn out to be the villain.

Also thought that when Ashoka said the thing to Ventress about getting her name cleared and never thinking they'd ever do anything together that maybe that was a hint that A & V eventually might team up and go off together, which would be a convenient end to both characters or a possible spin-off. Disney monetizes everything. Just a thought.

Lots of great saber fights in the last few weeks. Love that.

the only flaw I can see in that is I'm almost certain this episode was written before the disney purchase so, unless Lucas thought ahead on this or Disney execs already had influence on character developement I don't think this plot was done with the foresight of Disney wanting to expand upon or monetize these characters. My bellef is in the end Ahsoka will solve the mystery and be reinstated in the Jedi and Ventress will weasel off as usual. Remember, the SW spinoffs wasn't considered til just fairly recently and this story arc I believe predates any disney influence.

You're probably right. I'm just guessing.

so am I :lol since there is a season 6 already well in production I would surmise Ahsoka is in it... but who knows... perhaps she becomes one of the lost 20! no telling where they will go with this since they have to wrap it up at some point someday!

Yeah, I'm just hoping she doesn't get knocked off since I really like her. It's supposed to be a kid show at heart, so I don't think that will happen, but it certainly would add some heavy duty drama.

I'm also hoping that the overall events of this series also show Anakin's descent to the Dark Side. He's an emotional guy, so something terrible happening to Ashoka, perhaps by the Jedi (prison, execution), would push him in that direction.

Again, just thinking out loud for the fun of it.

And if I were a betting man, I'd say a misjudgement or error in action on Anakin's part will be central to her demise.

Assuming she has one. They killed off Obi-Wan's girl and they're going to kill off Padme in the worst possible way in Episode III. Even I'm starting to doubt they'll go that far to kill her for the sake of Anakin's development. That would make Ahsoka such a wasted character if it all came down to that. I think the series should have a twist and make it more about Ahsoka and less about Anakin.

Given the size of a purchase of Lucasfilm, those kind of things take 1-2yrs to get everything signed off on. So know doubt Disney had execs looking at things to do from DAY-1.
