CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

I just watched yesterday's episode tonight. Did anyone else recognize the slaver's fighters? If I remember right those were a concept for the Imperial shuttle in the Art of ROTJ book.

I really liked that episode, and I'm excited for the next one. I knew that kid would be back. Can't say I like the female Mando helmet. It looks girly. Which a soldier really shouldn't.

Oh, I wish. I really wish. Funny how the only Jedi who don't wear the standard, full body covering robes are the women. Aayla Secura?

Most do though, just not Aayla (well that we've seen). I heard a somewhat canon explanation (from Jan Duursema, who created Aayla) that Twilek's aren't hung up on their bodies so they don't share our perceptions on modesty. Something like that. So basically she doesn't share the American value on covering up. Plus she's hot, so why should she? :lol

A female friend said the same thing, but the first thing I see when you see her character is "Jedi" because she's got a lightsaber and she's kicking *ss.

Sick episode this week! Nice to see the Mandalorians/Death Watch as honest to god bad guys. Fett and co. were getting a little too warm and fuzzy in the EU. Like a galactic humane society. I like my bad guys bad, and Death Watch is delivering in spades! :thumbsup

Still love the black lightsaber blade. They're still trying to replicate that at teh FX Sabers forum. One guy has come close, but only from certain angles. Who ever can pull the effect off will make a tidy sum of money.

Got to agree that it was nice to see the death watch being more to how they should be. And it left it open for more death watch episodes so a certain female DW can return.

A good episode and i enjoyed it.

The senate guards were good and for some strange reason i really liked the helmet they were wearing. I also really liked the weathered death watch as opposed to the shiny DW that appeared last time.

Is the person using a flat "single edged" blade?

I'd posted some concern about the female Death Watch helmets looking too "girly" but my concerns were totally unfounded. The gals were just as deliciously cruel and ruthless as the fellas :thumbsup I liked how many of them had holsters molded into their thigh armor making one unified piece. Looked great.

Anyone notice Leias' Blockade Runner parked behind the ship they used to escape? Same design, same paint anyway.

I don't quite understand all of the ashoka hate. I was digger her stances; I thought her decapitation move was badd a$$

I told ya, I've been really liking Ahsoka; she's a little bad*ss! I couldn't stand her in the movie though.

I still wish Lucas hadn't screwed up Karen Traviss' idea for the Mandalorians. We could have had the True Mandalorians (Jango, Fett, etc.) vs. Death Watch like it's supposed to be. Lucas will probably go back saying Jango was Death Watch or some BS because they have his armor colors.

Another good episode. Really enjoyed it. I love the development of the Ahsoka character. She really seems like the apprentice Anakin would form. They both do things their own way, even if it's not necessarily always the Jedi way.

I really enjoy Clone Wars and think for the most part, they are great Star Wars stories.

However...

I wouldn't mind if they wrapped this animated series up and replaced it with one to cover the years in between the Episode IV and V. I would like it if today's new generation of Star Wars fans got a little more familiar with the characters of the OT and I personally could use the break from the heavy Jedi based stories that we have been exposed to since 1999.

Also, wouldn't mind LFL taking a crack at an animated Indy series to cover the war years.

Great episode Friday night. Ahsoka really is coming into her own this season and her fighting this week was really badass! I'm interested in seeing how the four part episodes starting Friday will go with Anakin getting primary screen time. It seems he'll be getting "darker".

I too agree MJF that while I am liking this series it could be wrapped up by season's end. And an exploration into the OT is something that would be enjoyed again by most if not all Star Wars fans since we've been inundated with Prequel stories for well over a decade.

Here's to hoping :D

REALLY LOVED the first of the four-parter!!!!! Pay close attention to the designs of the prison ;) this one wasn't so much Ani, as Obi's screen time, but it's setting up a great storyline.
Cad Bane is such a bad-azz! Love that character..
