CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

How many kids could be a mercenary / bounty hunter and getting a crew together? He's doing very well for an orphan.

Interesting interview with Witweir where he mentioned that we're going to see Maul evolve as a character over the next few seasons. And with another comment about how he's been able to schedule both Clone Wars and his TV show it sounds like Maul may be a fairly major minor, on the scale of say Ventress. If they had to do it, glad it's not being handled as a one-off gimmick.

The best thing about these Clone Wars episodes is that now it's officially canon that Darth Maul survived the duel on Naboo. Neat.

Well, if the saber cauterized the cut, and they found the top half and cyborged him, then I guess he could have survived.

Lame anyway.

Nailed It. Get it? A mauls a big hammer..... I'll leave now.

Not as lame as I feared though. The talking Snake creeped me out. Sounded like the 'eyeball guy' from Blade Runner.
"you're not gonna kill me, are you?" said by the pilot was from the movie Payback.

How long DID the Clone Wars actually LAST? I thought there was only a couple of years, 3 maybe, between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith????

Rich

p.s........sorry, sounds like i'm trolling.......

From the time Maul was sliced in half in TPM to this point in the Clone wars is at least 10 years, probably 12-13 years.

Maul has been living on a junk planet, all alone, broken and disgraced. I thought they portrayed him pretty well, part ashamed and part crazy.

And once he starts to get him bearings, he starts remembering, it looks like he's going to be pretty badass. Costume ques are straight out of the 'Visionaries' comicbook.

I think this was handled very well. No matter how you slice it (hee hee) reviving Maul is lame fan service. But since I like Maul, I approve. Making him insane and broken gave him more character development in 5 minutes than he got in all of TPM. Can't wait for the finale!

Sorta like the one film he appeared in? (Couldn't resist)

I like that they're using the Visionaries look for cyber-Maul. I haven't watched Clone Wars much at all, the theatrical release and the Jedi Jar-Jar episodes leaving a bad taste in my mouth, but that wasn't too bad.

I see no reason to bring Maul back though. Ultimately he'll likely end up jobbing to Obi-Wan again, so what's the point?

Yeah, it was like an episode of Dragonball Z. Wait for it. Somethings gonna happen. Wait. Wait. Now! Missed it.

Well, it sounds like he's not just going to pop in and out again; sounds like he's going to be a continuing threat and that they are taking the character to places no one has ever thought about before. More than just a weapon, Maul is going to be cunning, charming, and generally reflect a great deal of Sidious's training and personality. If they can pull off making him a character who's appeal is more than his clown makeup that's a great reason right there.

Also sounds like his focus deviates from Obi-Wan next season and he sets his sights on something or someone else. I'm guessing he decides to go after Sidious for abandoning him.
