Hi Ladies and Gents,
I wanted to create this separate thread for a one day build I completed for two DC-17 blasters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. These blasters were most famously used by Captain Rex throughout the show. I made them to go with a Cap Rex Halloween costume I have been making for the last little while (check it out on my other thread here http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=266568).
Here is a reference image from the animated series:
There is still a bit of work that needs to be done to these blasters and I will update as I go along with the painting process and a couple added features
Materials and Templates:
- foam floor mats and hot glue
- dremel to round out the edges
- templates from Sergio Solo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x6eTQykigE&list=PLM33_ALghkqYCAABf-bXSl4oVMFAeh8qK
- weapon foam building tips from Andrew DFT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1h6_kruA_A
Now for some pics
1) cut main pieces out of foam that was 10mm thick
2) glue the mirrored pieces together

3) start building up layers using 6mm thick foam and adding details with 2mm thick foam, also score the foam by using a sharp blade and only cutting through the top layer of foam not all the way through, then heat it up with a heat gun and watch the magic happen

4) repeat the whole process to get two blasters!

So I feel pretty happy with the way these turned out! I think they have just enough detail and look great considering this was my first ever foam weapon build!
From here I am going to add some pvc pipe on both ends for the barrel and the bit that goes at the back. After those are added on I will begin the painting process and post those pictures soon!
Thank you so much for checking this out, please leave any comments, questions or tips
