Clear coating brass to protecct against sweat?

I am making an acid etched medalion for a costume out of brass. I would wear this on bare skin and sometimes under a shirt for long periods of time, perhaps while hot and sweating.

Is there any kind of 'clear coat' I could use on it to protect it from patinna, fading, and sweat?

Thanks!

Door knobs and brass hardware are typically coated with a clear laquer finish to protect against wear and oxidation, so I'm thinking that's the way to go. If anyone knows otherwise, please chime in.

Funnily enough, I work for a big commercial door hardware manufacturer, and they do laquering all the time, but I'm talking huge proccesses.

I wondered if I could use some kind of laquer (like a spray from a hardware store) but wasn't sure if there was anything that'd adhere to brass and perhaps both protect it and my skin from each other. :)

Clear Metal Primer from Tamiya or Mr Hobby, comes in a small spray can. Dries to a very very thin coat. I used it to coat metal and prevent from rust or dulling.

But be careful not to spray too thick a coat, as the lacquer may dissolve your paint if there is any on your item. But if you spray thin coats, it is ok. The primer is fast drying. Dries to the touch in about half an hour for a thin coat. Complete drying in 25hrs.

Hope this helps.

Any old brand of "crystal clear" clearcoat in a spray can. Or, just brush or airbrush on Future floor wax.
