Clash of Titans Kraken design similarities?

When i first saw the Kraken design for the new CLash of the titans movie, I thought it looked awfully familiar.
THis week I was playing "Resistence 2" and noticed that the design of the Chimera and the Kraken are virtually identical.

Is this a coincidence?

Maybe they have the same designers..or maybe the video game influenced their creature

Actually I think that both designs are really similar just because drawing creatures like these seems to be a recent "trend" in concept art... There are tons of fresh ideas for monsters and alien creatures out there, but most of the time th people at "helm" of these projects wants to "play safe" and use the most recognizable look... And actually I like the Kraken here, but it's something I noticed...
Small eyes an big sharp fangs on short heads and muscular bodies seems to be the standard for these menacing creatures...

if you ask me, from resistance, I think the creature looks more like the reproducing beast from Hell Boy...

The Kraken reminded me of a Rancor.

Kind of reminds me of the Rancor. I'd have to see more views of the Chimera. 4 eyes are similar but organized different.

It looks like the lovechild of a Rancor and a Cave Troll.

Not blessed with good looks, genetically speaking, but I wouldn't say that to it's face.

Not with those fangs.

I do quite like the design and I'm interested to see the movie, I still have fond childhood memories of the original.
