Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

I am putting together a high end model kit of the famous car, GEN11 from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and am looking to see how high the interest is. I have full access of the original car from the original owners for measurements and reference so it will be very accurate. It will be reversed engineered from Rhino for rapid prototyping the parts of the kit. It will also have add-on parts for the wings and the floatation. I'm very excited to do this so I am eager to hear back from anyone.

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

Welcome to the board--you have an enviable resume! I have the old Aurora kit, the Corgi and the newer 1:18 model as well so I would definitely welcome a high end kit :)

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

I would be intrested in one subject to price and scale. any Idea on the scale?

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

I would probably be building it around 1:16, a little bigger than the 1:18 scale toy, which is out of scale anyway for such a large replica. I will be selling it on the chittygen11.com site, built and in kit form. It will be dependent on the cost of production with metallized parts and cloth wings and maybe actual wood and brass parts.

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

oh, Michelle and I love this car, Gotta start saving... up the scale GO BIGGER
Cheers,
Will

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

Interested, yes!

Also, I really would love professor fate's car from the great race! ...if you're on a roll

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

I would love to make a bigger version of it but would like to keep it at a scale that people can display easily, especially with the wings or the pontoon. But I will keep all informed as it progresses. Keep an eye on the chittygen11 site!

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

Yes yes yes, a thousand times yes!

Got to second the others, something like 1/12 would be ideal IMHO.

Will you offer the kit with options? I'd just want the basic car. Actually, I'd want even less - chassis, hood and running gear - my ideal would be the racer! :)

Funny you should mention that, I've actually been working on modifying an old Aurora kit into the racer version. Nowhere near done but I wanted one to sit next to "Chitty".

Nice! Please start a thread!!!

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

Love to see this in a larger version as the others have mentioned. I'd definately be interested.

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

This is a good start to see so many interested. After the initial car, we could do the racer version as well. We are getting the details worked on now including measurements, scale so it shouldn't be long.

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

Hey, that would be nice!

Interested to know which car you have access to. Is it the Alcoa one? I got to sit in that one once, as a kid.

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

I know the owners who bought the car after the filming of the movie. Pierre Picton has the one and only driving car and still takes care of it. It looks like new. I have ridden in it many times and they are letting me make a model kit of it but I have to call it GEN11 because they own it. I also run their website.

Oh, fantastic, it's THE car. I was guessing because you're in the US that it might have been the alloy-bodied one which went there.

Sweet!

Re: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang resin kit interest

You sure it's the "real" car? That website seems kind of vague.
