First the pictures aren't great because I was experimenting using the article in FSM about photographing models. I think something automatic in the camera is making the pictures darker. Anyway I got it finished. Like I've said before I did make the wings a little larger because that's how I thought they should look. I thought the official version's wings were too stubby compared to how they are described in the books. I'm pretty happy with it as a first scratchbuild.

Also if you're ever using masking tape to remove dust before painting (I don't have a tack cloth) and you ask yourself whether it's wise to use regular tape and not painter's tape, listen to reason. I used regular tape and popped off one of the little "wing" things on the cannons. It was easy to fix though.

Here's the reference pictures in case you don't know what this is: http://rogue74.nt3.npsis.com/chissclawcraf...iss_fighter.jpg

This is the picture I used as a weathering reference (the Japanese cover of "Dark Journey" ): http://rogue74.nt3.npsis.com/chissclawcraf...ss_fighter3.jpg

The model is 1/48. I used the SMT TIE Defender because the cockpit was easy to modify. (and I wasn't sure how to scratchbuild a TIE cockpit).

VERY Nice Jason. It's a great piece. I too like the elongated wings. I like the side profile the best. Not too hot on the front end look, but that's just my design astheticts. It looks like a deadly machine.
