Chirrut Îmwe Props Build

Hi, first time posting.

I was comissioned to make the props for a Chirrut Îmwe costume from Rogue One including his staff, crossbow, gauntlet and the
machine... thingie he has hanging on his side.
The commissioner put a lot on emphasis on accuracy so i wanted to share my progress with you and ask for your opinion on
how it's comming along and what i can do to improve.

So i started with the staff (process pics below)
Had to make the top wood part out of pvc tubing so i can run the cables for the leds from the battery to the metal parts on the top (the battery is housed inside the
tube itself too) so i made a mokup wood texture the best i could to hide the fact that it is pvc.
When that part was done i noticed that top part on the original one is a little bent but i couldn't heat bend it cause it was allready painted, -1point to accuracy i guess (i had
to put the swith on the handle but i couldn't do anything to help that) but asside from that i'm happy with how it comming along, now i have to work on the lower half and of course updating with more pictures here too.

So that's it, please tell me what you think and if i can improve it in anyway, thanks for reading and greeting from Chile.

p.s.

I'm sorry for the crappy pictures, just have my phone for that.

how did you get the leds light shine through the black painted sections of the top of the staff?

Those parts look black on the non lit pics but they´re transparent acrylic (including a round lid on top) just sanded a little from the inside to defuse the light and darkened a bit by the paint i used on the aging process.

So the parts appear black, but all you did was sand down the inside acrylic and weathered it from the outside with paint?

I am currently completing the modeling and starting a test 3D print of his lightbow. Your props look great!

Thanks for the comment.
Are you gonna upload or sell the file for the bow? I'm handmaking mine but the file would be useful to take better measures specially for the gear-like parts on the bow arms, i want to make it usable so the client can pose better (and to make it a cooler prop of course haha)

Hey guys, been a slow month for this project fut finally one more prop is ready, check it out.

The chipped paint effect on the red parts was done with masking tape, if anyone wants to learn how just ask :)

P.S.
I love weathering (maybe a little too much, lets just say that Chirrut was in a sewer before this lol)

I am indeed. I have been working in collaboration with Xero Props and will be selling the file soon.

I will indeed be selling the file. Working with XeroProps has helped me make it super accurate and it is nearly complete.

Thanks for the comment.

Hey guys, don´t know if anyone will read this but hey, i finished everything, the client even mailed me the clothes to weather them.

I also made the Lightbow , since 3D printing is still really new and expensive in my country i made the gears the good ole' fashion way, yeah, made em out of wood (and designed them in photoshop since i´m an ignorant idiot haha)

So yeah, here you go, hope someone likes it hahah.
