Hello all. Just wanted to show some pics of the Chewbacca I have made. With this figure I went with more of the overall feel of The Empire Strikes Back rather than a particular scene ( that is why Chewie is in the carbon chamber with a blaster in hand :) I will post more pics tomorrow in daylight so that everyone can see the details. By the way I did not make the Threepio, he was provided for this project, all I did was add the wires and weathering to him. All of the Threepio parts are not there, I left some off due to weight issues.

HOLY WTF BATMAN... :thumbsup :thumbsup

my only complaint/suggestion is he looks a bit slim.

other than that very VERY impressive display... B)

:)

I've had the good fortune of seeing this progress over the last few weeks and I love it. The pose makes for such a dynamic display too.

Great work bud :thumbsup

Looks fantastic. I've always admired your work. I don't suppose you'd be willing to provide details on the construction and materials of your base?

:eek :eek :eek :eek :eek ... HOLY SH** ... .... Amazing - can't wait to see more pics ... :thumbsup

yeah as someone said he`s a bit narrow but saying that its overall still the best I seen.

Do you have closeups to show off the face?

Well done.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I will make sure to post daylight pics today so that everyone can see the detail of Chewbacca's face and Threepio's wires :)

The base was a complete bear to make. lol Let me see if I can explain how it is made, the grate is 1/8 inch masonite with slots cut in it. I went with the thin board instead of thicker board because in the movie it is very thin and I am guessing was metal. On the back of that is 1/8 inch plexi which I then painted the back orange using spray paint. The base is MDF board with sides out of MDF, the front and back are sheet styrene glued down. The front sheet of course cut out with thin clear plastic on the back painted orange.

It is illuminated using a fluorescent light. Now the hard part was to get Chewbacca to stand on this, it cannot support a person since it only has a few braces in it to keep the top up so what I did was add metal pipe flanges in the base, have pipes running up to another flange with bolts coming out of those flanges. The feet and ankle of Chewbacca are bolted to those so in essence Chewbacca is not even standing on this base he is just "hovering" :)

Now is all that as clear as mud? ;) :lol Sorry that I am not very good at explaining my work but that is about the best I can come up with :)

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my latest figure. I added all new daylight pics to show the details of both figures.
