Cheap and easy stand for my Indiana Jones, Crystal Skull replica prop

Hello all, I was getting together all my Indiana Jones props when I noticed that I didn't have a stand for my Crystal Skull. So, after displaying my other pieces I decided it was time to take a trip down to good old Wally World (Walmart) and pick up some cheap supplies from the crafts and hardware departments. I didn't want or need anything to spiffy so I grabbed the basics...black spraypaint, a simple wooden plaque, a set of door stoppers, a dowel rod, a wooden spool and some wood screws to finish off the list. Here's a pic of what I started with...

Then, when all the work was said and done ( all but an hour and a half of it anyway) this was the end result; a simple but yet effective stand for my piece of Indiana Jones movie history :)

Not the greatest pic but the stand is visible. I just thought I'd get all my pieces together because my fiancé has decided to buy me the sideshow 1/4 size Ark Of The Covenant...I guess it was the idea of having it so I made it a point to show her I really wanted it by displaying all the other props from the movies. Lol Can't wait for it to get here!!!

Very nice display. Always good to see some cheap display alternatives, especially ones that are easy to make.

Very cool. Our local craft store has those plaques dirt cheap. I'm going to buy them and use them for display all sorts of things, especially figures that fall over easily.

Thanks guys, all comments are much appreciated. As for the crystal skull, I bought it off eBay about a year and a half ago I believe; I'm not sure if the seller is still around but I'll look to see if I saved him as a favorite. Although, I saw a previous thread here on the RPF of a guy that was doing a custom sculpt of the skull; either way I'll look them both up and post the links here so you all can contact them. Cheers everyone :)

That first link shows the one offered by Global Gear. It's only 50 bucks, but they are in Australia and shipping to the states was 95 dollars. I picked one up and have been slowly modifying it. The inside is hollow, as you can probably tell from the pictures in the link I posted. And the eyes have to be filled in. The inside is not polished, either. It's about 13 inches long. The second one is the slide projector made by Uncle Milton, and can be had for 11 dollars. It's very blue, and also would have to be modified, or at least gutted. It's about 9 inches long, but at least it's a fairly faithful sculpt.

I'd think about whacking a couple of LED's at the top of the stand to illuminate the skull.

Nice professional finish on the stand mate, great work!
