ChaosPrince's Ultimate Spider-Man Suit (Miles Morales) WIP

Thought I'd go ahead and start the new thread now that I've actually officially started the build.

Miles Morales' Spidey suit is as thus:

I have purchased a TaylorMcManus pattern and had it printed last week by Fabric on Demand. It is currently en route to my house right now and should be here by next Thursday (March 13th).

Here is a sample of the file (since I don't want to post anything too high-def in fear of having it copied or something):

I contacted El Fett and we had a talk about some detailing work with some puff paint to be done on the red webs, back and front spider, and the black lines of the hands.

I've worked out some details with an alternate seamstress, since TrophyWife is in the middle of moving and won't be accepting commission work for a while. The seamstress I've got lined up to sew my suit is very nice and is going to sew a pair of one of these shoes into the feet section for me (for a small charge as well, very reasonable):

I haven't decided which I want to use yet.

I'm very optimistic about this build, as well as it being my first "start to finish" suit.

I'm going to be modifying TJack's TASM2 combo (just the frames) and mold a thin layer of red something, (modelling clay, silicone putty, etc.) around the outside. Or maybe print out some red stickers (I have a sticker printer from my crafting days) in the dimensions of the frames? I'm totally open to suggestions on how to get those frames to be red...
Worst case scenario? I don't change the color of the frames, and just rock the TASM2 look on the Miles suit; which no doubt will still look really boss.

I'll post a picture of the print once I receive it next week. I'll be ordering whatever shoes I decide on next week as well (but I'm open to suggestions if you guys have a better idea of what to sew in to the bottoms).

I'll provide updates on the puffy paint detailing as well as the sewing.

I hope to have this suit done in about three to four months, but I'm on no real time table here, so I won't rush anything.

Also, there will not be a belt nor will there be any webshooters. So that will lower the build cost quite a bit (something I'm happy about).

Until my next post!

Same!

I'm really looking forward to seeing this build progress!

May I ask which seamstress you used?

A girl named Kayla located in Ohio. We had a long talk and worked out all the details.
The only thing different with this sewing commission is, instead of using a serger, she does three stitching side by side, as reinforcement on the seams.

So Panda suggested wrapping the frames with red vinyl.

I was thinking something like this:
Refective Vinyl Self...

As it has a solvent-based adhesive backing, meaning that though it is supposed to be permanent, the adhesive chemical can be dissolved using a bit of alcohol or ammonia when I would want to take them off.

What I'm REALLY thinking about doing is, since TJack has a couple more runs of his face shell and lens combo, would be to get an extra set of lenses that would fit the face shell (magnets and all) and then just to paint the frames red myself. But, I don't know how up to the task TJack would be for making me an extra set of lenses with the magnets. Especially since he has so many orders to fill recently. I'll contact him after a couple more of his runs are complete and then see if he might have time to take that commission for me.

I haven't seen a really good Miles Morales suit done yet. I still have my pattern that I bought from someone a whiles back, but haven't had the funds. I thought about puff painting the entire pattern with black and red. Thought it'd look cool. Pretty excited to see this once done, definitely subscribing.

I've contacted TJack just now. Hopefully he'll take my commission.

Thanks man, I'm getting real excited about it. I'm puffing the black on the hands and the red everywhere else.

Everyone keeps messaging me to, "NOT SCREW THIS SUIT UP", and that they, "haven't seen a good Miles Morales suit yet".

Just so you guys know, that's the main reason I picked it. I haven't seen a really well done Miles Morales suit. Bboy Stunna Spidey made a good one, but it's modified to make it super danceable, something I'm not really planning to do (my first suit is danceable already).

Remember that Miles Morales is a newer character in the series, and that it's not that it's HARDER to make the suit, just that not many people have chosen to do one yet. (I've seen various ones so far, but mostly made with no mask, or with bad lenses, or made for a kid).

This suit will be what Miles would look like in a couple years, since he's around 5'9" and 140lbs and I'm 5'10" and a half & 152lbs.

Now THAT is a tough suit. I'm planning on making one once I'm super well versed in this whole process. I need to get my eva foam skills and modeling skills up to par
