So I made Oogie Boogie Last year but only just got photos done and finally added some more bugs to him.
A group of friends were doing a Nightmare Before Christmas Group and Oogie Boogie felt like a challenge to me as I had never done a mascot style costume before, but I didn’t want to commit to doing him until I knew I could get his face to look right. Once I had that figured out I decide to go ahead and commit to getting him done. So with hat wire, batting, broadcloth in a color that matched the burlap I went on to bring Oogie Boogie to life. I also decide to go the extra step and spend the money on 8 cans of glow-in-dark spray paint and hung Oogie outside and went nuts spraying him so he will glow in the dark. As it was also close to halloween I was able to go to the local dollar store and get some bugs that I painted with glow-in-the-dark paint and have them glued and sewn onto Oogie along his seams and in his mouth. While Oogie is way to hot to wear to most conventions I have managed it twice for pictures. Oogie is definitely a fall/winter cosplay and will probably make a return again next year. I still have some figuring out to do to attach the shoes to the rest of the costume easier, but otherwise I am very happy with how he turned out. The only thing left to do is a black light shoot with him so I can show off the fact that Oogie Boogie glows-in-the-dark

Figuring out how to get Oogie's head shape right.
Hat Wire attached together using High-Friction Silicone Tape. It was then covered with 2 layers of a stretch mesh, quilting batting was added to smooth out and shape the head, it was then covered with a burlap colored broad cloth and stitch around eyes, mouth and where needed, Another layer of mesh was added to the eye area.

Burlap was then add as was the stitching line on his mouth. The body was created using 4 layers and smaller inner bodysuit, a layer of quilting batting from the shoulders to calves, the burlap colored broadcloth and the burlap

The most expensive part and also the most nerve-racking part cause if it didn't work it was a lot of money down the drain. 8 cans of GLOW-IN THE-DARK spray paint!! I hung oogie outside and a way I went. and IT WORKED !!!! 10701989_835312766519313_4147230177286528364_n.jpg
