CC sneak peak

:eek Dude, the resin monkey's can only work so fast. I still have 2 more patterns yet to be finished for Wonderfest.

Well, I just received a kit and let me first say that the castings are immaculate and very crisp! This thing is incredibly cast, George is a master! I think I only found two minor bubbles on the whole kit.

The hulls are masterfully rotocast, light yet sturdy. The cockpit area on both pods will need to be dremeled out in order to insert the cockpit tubs. That should be an easy process. The engine slot will also need to be dremeled out to slide in the length of the engine support. Epoxy from within should secure the pods to the engine cross member length.

The engine cross member has two solid metal rods set in the length of the casting for support and no way will that ever sag.

The figures also look incredible.

This is going to be one fun project to build and paint and is a superior resin kit especially when compared to some sub par resin kits out on the market.

Wow! Just received the kit and it's flawless! Great job George!!!!!!!! I love how there's minimal cleanup to do. :love

Thanks a million for making a kit of the cloud car that can support itself. I have the previous one and can't figure out how to reinforce the center beam so it won't allow the pods to droop. :cry

Are the figures from the same sculptor as the other kit?

Now, I just need to figure out where some of the small details go. Looking forward to more of your build.

Just noticed the cockpit tub sits with a lip above the surface, forcing the canopy to be lifted off the surface. I'm thinking that shaving off that lip and sinking it down will allow the canopy to sit flush...

I just read your previous post about the turrets needing to be trimmed. Can you please show what that would be? I'm a little confused there. I'm thinking it would be for the same reason as I want to lower the cockpit tub - to get the canopy to sit flat.

Overall awesome kit! WOW!

Thanks guys. Your compliments mean a lot.

I only have a couple left of the first batch. After that it may be a couple of weeks till more get made. WF is around the corner and ALL of my attention is on my new Galactica kits.

Hey George

Just pulled the previous cloud car kit I have that Mike Salzo cast. Just curious...When comparing the two kits I notice they seem much the same. Is yours a revision of it?

On the previous one I wish I could figure out how to put rods through the engine/wing without a careful drill press operation. And I don't have access to a drill press. Would you be willing to sell me your new castings of the engine/wing parts? The support system is very well resolved.

I'd still have to carve and drill out the slot for it in the pod part. That's not going to be easy.

Yours is definitely the ultimate version of the kit. Very carefully engineered and so easy to clean up. I'm really surprised how I can snap together the engine parts on the wing - no glue needed, and I didn't even have to trim the parts! :)

Scott, thanks for the compliment. To be honest I don't know if the parts are interchangable. My wings are completely new. Also the holes for them in the body is a bit different. It really is a different beast.
Hit me after WF. I really have no spare casts till then. The demand for the kit is really high right now and I am not going to have people wait for kits. I'm at "0" wait time right now. :love

Got a bit more done. I used Smooth-on Foam it to lock the wings in. Damn, this stuff is awesome! It's faom resin. Dries very hard. To get a smooth mating surface for the canopy I spread bondo and block sanded it. Perfect fit! Well, more later.

Hi George,

Mike contacted me and thinks he can reinforce his wings and send a replacement to me. Just want to update the situation...
:thumbsup

I'm going to get started on this one soon. Thanks for your construction tips. Would the smooth on foam be 'foam it'? I noticed they have a few foams available on the smooth on website.
