For those of you that collect these types of things I thought you might like to see some close up shots of the two sunglasses from Persol that Bond wears. Please not that the tortoise shell ones DO come in a case that is emblazoned with the 007 logo BUT it is, happily, not on the sunglasses themselves.

Sold...

Been looking for that style for a long time. And it just happens to be a Bond prop.

B) + Bond = Win. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Isn't he wearing the metal rimmed pair when he gets off the plane?

I believe so. :)

Funny, I was just thinking I needed new sunglasses. Or a prop. Why not take care of both at once? Look honey, I *saved* money by only getting one thing. :lol

I ordered the metal-rimmed ones. Pretty sweet.

I think he puts on the other pair on the beach in the Bahamas after talking with M but I'm not sure. Seeing it again tonight so I'll make a mental note to look.

Craig wears the silver ones MUCH more than the tortoise ones in the movie...I counted at least three scenes where the metal ones are worn. They are amazingly comfortable to wear and stylishly classic.

And this is from the Persol web site:

Persol continues its long and successful cinema heritage dressing the gaze of James Bond in the latest 007 movie “Casino Royale”

November 2006 - Persol is once again dressing the gaze of James Bond in the latest 007 movie “Casino Royale”

November 2006 - Persol is once again dressing the gaze of James Bond, the legendary British secret agent, in the new 007 movie “CASINO ROYALE”. James Bond perfectly represents Persol image and values: fashionable, stylish, yet sophisticated.

In Casino Royale, James Bond wears two pair of Persol frames during the film. At the start of the plot, Bond wears a Persol metal frame: Persol 2244. In the second part of the story after experiencing a number of adventures, James changes to Persol style 2720 (turtle frame and green lenses, color code 24/31).

Cinema has always been in PersolÂ’s DNA. Since the 1960s, Persol models have featured many times in some of the keynote films of Italian cinema. Persol eyewear has been the personal choice of many unforgettable artists of the silver screen and international celebrities. The strong bond with the world of cinema has remained constant over time. Today, it takes the form of the shades chosen by James Bond and this is happening actually for the second time after Persol appeared in the last film DIE ANOTHER DAY (2002).

I've only seen the film once, but that was my impression as well.

It's a little strange though, Persol is offering a "Casino Royale Limited Edition" of the tortoise ones but makes no mention of the Bond connection in the description of the metal ones. :unsure

Well, i ordered the 2244-s 505/58 63 pair from BestBuyEyeglasses.com, got them today (only 32.90 extra in duty). And the left lense has a giant crack in them.

So, on the first call to them, no one answered, the second time I got through finally, but as I'm in Canada they cant just send me a postage pre-paid sticker thingy...so now I must wait for the manager to call me....cause hes off already (6:30 both here and there in NY) AHHHH.

Ok, I'm done venting...thanks....

Wow, that stinks.

I got an email from the same company today saying that the 2244-s 505/58 63 that I just ordered were on "maunfacturer's backorder" until Dec. 15th.

I could get the regular brown lenses if I desired, but I will wait...

...nuts.
