Captain Cardboard X-Wing or Poseidon Young

If I may piggyback on Achilles' thread here, I'm familiar with most of these kits but I've never heard of Poseidon Young? It may be one I've seen, but not by that name. Can someone point me to some pics of it?

Basically they are the best most accurate. They also came last so they are improved versions over the cc. The py just isn't accurate enough for me. Very well made kit but not quite accurate.

No offense to anyone but....

Accurate to WHAT?

A Hero? Ok..well, its PYRO. Hence the name.

I love what Julien did with the Pyro, basically reworked it to look like the hero. To me, that looks the most "accurate" of anything out there.

CC, V2,3,4 whatever, are all scratch builds of someone's interpretation of what the XWING SHOULD look like. Yet they get deemed more accurate than someone that actually was cast FROM a production used piece. Cleaner? Shaper? Sure. More accurate or authentic? Not so much.

If you Look at a film used ship, they are "pretty rough". Im always amused when people complain the Pyro is "Pretty rough" and therefore less authentic.

I guess "accuracy" is in the eye of the beholder.

Bottom line, Pick the model that best fits what YOU think looks right.

The only eye that counts for YOUR collection, is your own.

I simply said on the last page the v3 and the pyro are the most accurate. That is proportions etc. I also said the pyro to me is the most accurate for obvious reasons.

People DO that? Of COURSE it's a little rough, but that's what you'd expect! (a little - to me, "pretty rough" is strong language, equal to Taint or Stone level quality).

It's also unbelievably awesome and something I never thought I'd own. I fondle mine every day. :)

Simon - capital letters are your friends! :)

Once my father and I finish the PY kit and we are more confident I might see about ordering either a V3 or a Pyro as it would be nice to have a x-wing kit with history I just dont want to stuff it up lol. Plus I also have a SS Tie figher and 1:24 Tie interceptor on the way so ill keep you posted on my progress with those and be sure ill be asking for some tips :)

Awesome synopsis Nwerke! I was enlightened by it as well. :D

To the Modelcave! (naa-naa, naa-naa, naa-naa, naaa...)

Karl, I completely left out the Mensaboy kit! It's another "oddball", I guess. AFAIK it was only available from a single run, two or three years ago. Like the PY it's "approximately" accurate...if I recall correctly...I've never seen more than a few photos. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong there!)

The Tie interceptor that I ordered of modelnutz is the one mastered by Alfed Wong it is apprently the first one ever sold apart from the one originally made by Alfred so the casting should be nice and fresh im kind of excited its my first time owning the first of anything. YAY :)

Yeah will do, I will be doing a Mensaboy Tie, Alfred Wong interceptor and PY X-Wing at the same time :) hope I can do a good job of it the paint is the thing im most concerned about, I look forward to seeing your build as well, I plan on getting a X-1 tie and doing a cool display case a super ambititous challenge but its been so long since ive done somehing worth while.

Cool , post pix of your build. I,ll be starting on my Niesen tie at the weekend.

Is that the one that Alfred calls 1/24 but it is actually smaller than studio scale?

I'd really like to see pics of the Mensaboy TIE if possible? Never seen good pics of it.

Yes it is 1/24 from Alfred Wong so it is a little bit smaller then studio scale but it is in scale with the ss x-wing and tie I have purcahased also so it should be pretty cool, don't worry as soon as the kits arrive in the mail I will be taking plenty of pics for everyone

Thanks

I have that x-1 and it's quite a bit smaller than studio scale. It's supposed to be 1/24th but is closer to the hasbro than Ss.

When you do, please make sure you post them to a thread in the General Modeling Forum.
