Captain America Shield

So I am working on My Steel Saucer Sled Shield, But after I finish I would like to build a more professional using a spun blank. I have absolutely no idea where to start. I was just wondering if anyone had some advice on where to get a blank. Thanks!

Do you mean spun as in on a lathe?

As its going to be a pain finding anyone with a lathe that big. You'd be better off beating one out of sheet steel, or casting one and cleaning it up.

I'm actually having the same problem. My brother is looking for a metal shield as well and only ones that I have found are $700 and up. If anybody can assist with telling me where to look or if they have a shield either blank, or finished. Please let me know. I was trying to get it for him before comic con but that ship has sailed lol.

I see that you're new here. It might be good for you to use the search function of this site and search for "Captain America Shield" You will find several lengthy threads (several from me) that walk you though the process of exactly what you're looking to do. THis site is a massive resource for anyone looking to do this project.

You're welcome :)

Unfortunately some of the best, most informative threads had to be deleted. But yes, Accurate Metal Spinning is the correct name. :) Good luck!

Over the last couple of weeks I have messaged what feels like every metal spinning company in the U.S.A. Out of the 80 some companies only 5 responded to my email and they all gave a price between 200-300. So I would go with AMS down in Florida or United Spinning in California.

Got mine on ebay, thread with some of my shield build is in my sig. Also Fly, and Valor have a bunch of build threads on this subject. Good Luck, post pics!

AWESOME! Thanks for the update on that. I'm about an hr or so away from Miami, so i'll be calling in the next few days to see what the deal is.

Well, that explains why I haven't been able to find some of the threads I've seen referenced in the existing threads. Why did they get pulled? DMCA?

They got pulled for proper legal reasons, not the fault of the RPF at all or it's staff.

Oh, I wasn't implying that. I'm just surprised that a fan-build would get a C&D, unless it was a for-profit thing. But then, I'm new here (other than lurking) so I'm sure I'll figure out all that stuff as I go.
