I made some steel and aluminum shields just for practice the other day, is there any kind of market for this kind of thing do you think?
I'm not an armor builder as a rule so don't know the market etc

Hey, they look great.

Ever thought about doing the round shield?

I am sure there would be some interest in your work- even if you arent a Captain America fan, these would look great on a wall.

Those look wicked nice. There is market for this and will only increase with captain america movie coming out.

I would say there's definitely a market for this, especially if you paint 'em up!

I agree with Solochaser if i saw one of these after to movie i would jump at the chance to get one, painted or un-painted that steel look is very nice

ME WANT! The round shield is a must - I'd be among the first in line for one. The circular indentations would speed up painting and look incredible when finished.

And the Indentations will make it movie accurate it seems too!:love

Thanx for the comps. I'll make a couple round ones this weekend, one aluminum , one steel...say 30" diameter...or any other size requests? Steel is 20 gauge.
I'd make an steel/aluminum Iron man helmet too if I had a basic template/ie form to make it from. Where can I get one?

Did you make a hammer form of the entire shield or draw it out on the sheet and work against a dolly?

I drew it on the sheet then rolled it through my e wheel to curve it up a bit then hit it with the power hammer for the hammer tone effect ..at least on the Nor Cross shield.

Also in the works...A Silver Surfer Surboard - 1:1 scale in polished aluminum.

i think the standard shield is 24"......but if someone could verify that, thatd be good!

The official diameter is 30". The depth is about 3.5"-4".

On the helmet, would the pep files that people use to make paper bases for fiberglass/bondo helmets be enough?
