Captain America Shield Replica

There were a lot of threads on shields but not a lot of information. Did anyone buy both models and compare them which one did you keep? Is one more accurate then the other? I am not really interested in the wall hangings that go with them just the shield. I plan on hanging it up over my Captain America PF. I bought the Sideshow shield and the Factory shield but they have not arrived yet. I am only going to keep the better one but I was hoping which one you guys thought was the better shield. I also ordered a Deluxe plastic one that I am getting today because I really want to see all the options.

by more accurate - what do you mean?

the sideshow one is bigger but without any reference as to how small or large they're really supposed to be I can't say which one is more accurate.

the blue around the star is darker on the sideshow one...

most likely both will have dings and dents on them anyways.


oh and I too agree that irishamericanlad's shields are better - easier to carry around - no dings and the paint job is better too. I like his blue (which he can customize slightly to your tastes) the best

If he's got the time to find, acquire, and work with the paints... you could probably get it painted practically any colors you want. And his strapping system is the best I've seen on any replicas.

I received the Factory X Shield today and was not that impressed with it. I am getting the Museum Replicas version tomorrow. I will post two pics and I did a video review but I will do a review of the two together and compare them both in one review.

yah none of the shields in this post are mine lol i think johnny was trying to compare the ones he bought, which are very impressive indeed! johnny i would like to know the size differances also and i will cmpare mine to those so everyone can be aware of whats on the market

I received my Museum Replicas Captain America Shield today. I was very unimpressed with the Factory X shield it felt like a garbage can top and looked unfinished and cheap which it was not I paid over $300 for it. It was far from a true replica of Captain America's Shield it was only 27" it had no handle only two leather straps and it was not the correct shape it flattened out instead of being curved. I had read on some forums that people bought both and liked the Factory X shield better and kept that one so I did not have high hopes for the Museum Replicas shield. I did have a glimmer of hope because Sideshow sold it and they only carry good stuff. Well I opened the package today and I was pleasantly surprised with the shield. First I have no idea why someone would keep the Factory X shield over the Museum Replicas shield. The Museum Replicas is so far superior to the Factory X shield. First off the shield is 30" like in the comic, the shape is curved as in the comic. There is a strap for the forearm and a handle to hold like in the comic. The build quality is so much better it has more weight to it because it is thicker the edges are finished and painted unlike the Factory X which are unfinished and unpainted. The paint looks to be thicker and better applied. I think the darker blue in the middle is more correct. If you are a fan of Captain America and you want a true replica there is only one choice between these two shields. I have no idea why someone would keep the Factory X shield over the Museum Replicas shield. There was a much smaller number of Museum Replicas shields made then Factory X shields so the price is higher to buy one now but I think it is worth it if you are a true Captain America fan or you want a real replica of Cap's shield.
