    Hey guys!

I'm planning to start a small run for this pretty cool leather Captain America jacket. As you can see in the pics the jacket has computer designed pieces, raised details, hidden zipper and elbow protections to mention a few. The work is quite detailed and the leather just ads up to the final look of the product. Here are the pics!

Cool, really cool. I'm very tempted, and it's my birthday soon, so if I have some birthday cash left, I'll be down for one. I'll know for sure in a couple of weeks.

I am definitely interested as I have been thinking about getting a nice Captain America jacket. How does this compare to something like this one: http://whitesheepleather.com/Chris-Evans-Captain-America-2015-Leather-Jacket

Is it really $200 more of quality? Your pictures aren't the best, but I'm working if this one will be worth it over the ones linked.

Re: Captain America AoU jacket in leather

    Signed you guys up!

The first one from film jackets is not accurate at all and it's made out of fake leather, hence the low price. The second one is a bit more accurate and made out of leather, but please pay close attention to the detailing. That is just a normal jacket with mods to make it look like the AoU, you can easily tell from the zipper in the sleeves and the front zipper (not at all seen in the movie one). Now, look at the protections in the elbows, the leather around the shoulders, the star and the overall shapes. There are a lot of details missing and a lot of stuff modified. I see this very often, they modify a lot of stuff so it's faster and less epensive to manufacture. It's actually why I started to make props, because I wasn't satisfied with how they made a lookalike product lacking the details.

This jacket was built from scratch. Everything is as accurate as we can possibly make it, some of the colors are custom made for this jacket alone, there are 3d printed stuff molded and sewn into the jacket, the zipper was built hidden... everything to give you a jacket that stands out and looks as screen accurate as possible. All of that involves way more work and way more time, that's why it's more expensive and made under order, but trust me, the only jackets that are more screen accurate than this one are the ones actually used on screen ;)

If I gather enough interest with the jacket I'll definitely tackle on the pants ;)

    oooh, that is beautiful!

    2 questions:

    - do you have any idea what the lead time would be, from the time payments are sent
    - how will we know the ones we get actually look like that.

the last time i got in on a custom leather run, the results were less than satisfactory. what i got was not at all what i expected, and it took 2-3 times as long as estimated.

You'd have to refer to Danny on the first question, but I can help out on the second one. If you check out either of his other Star Lord Jacket runs (Both the short and long coat) the jackets delivered to people were spot on to the pictures he posted of them. And while this isn't 100% proof that they'll be just as good, I think it's a pretty comforting fact :thumbsup

We do have that model, pm sent!

Possibly, I'll check if we can make the design.

sizes will be near the sizes of my star lord short jacket, I'll have the exact sizing table in a couple of days.

    1. it's usually around three weeks after I close the run
    2. As Neoproks said (thank you so much btw!) I have already made jackets, latest one was the Star Lord short jacket, you can compare what I announced with what people are getting and the only dfference is that the pics of Kevin look even better than mine. Anyway, I can always end you pics for your approval, but yeah, they're all made by the same molds, which is why, if you visit my Star Lord gloves run I haven't started to get payments for those, since I don't have the molds and patterns finished and I like to show people exactly what they're buying.

Re: Captain America AoU/Civil War jacket in leather

From screenshots of the costume, it seems to me that large portions of it aren't leather at all and are fabric. Is this one going to replicate that or do Captain America jacket makers just stick with all leather to make it easier. Or am I wrong about what the screen used one is made of? I just see a thread like this one: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=226351 where the OP is patching his together with fabric pieces.

So when you say that the only way to be more screen accurate is to have the real one, is it really going to be accurate with materials used?

Re: Captain America AoU/Civil War jacket in leather

Yes, I am using more leather than the one used on screen, what I'm referring to when I talk about screen accuracy are all the details, shapes and overall feel of the jacket. Making this in leather isn't easier tho, it's both harder to sew and more expensive.

LOVE the look of this jacket, but I have a question; what does it look like open and unzipped. I ask because if I bought one, I would wear it as every-day-wear and of course it wouldn't be zipped most of the time.

    Hey Everyone :)

I know this may be a stupid question but i've never been sized for a jacket and was wondering how the sizing chart worked. I know it seems kind of self explanatory but i've never dropped this much on a jacket :p Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again and sorry for the dumb question.

Re: Captain America AoU/Civil War jacket in leather

    Hi guys!

So here's how it looks opened, it stays in place with magnets (to avoid any kind of uncomfortable, noticeable stuff).I'm planning on using mine just opened and keeping it in place using just the last magnet.

    IMG-20150522-WA0001.jpg

I might start working on the pants but they will be available after this first run, I'm just very swamped right now, but I definitely want pants for this!

NO dumb questions here! What I usually recommend is to get a jacket that you like how it fits, measure it and then compare the measurements with the ones from the table. If you're in between sizes, choose the larger one ;)

Thanks for the response. Glad to know the community here is okay with a total newb to cos-play and all thing created :) I found a nice leather jacket i have and i tried to get some measurements. Waist seemed easy enough, so did sleeve, but chest/back/ wasn't quite sure where to measure from.

I got a large, based on an existing leather motorcycle style jacket I have. It's similar measurements to what Danny posted and fits me well.

I'm surprised... I'd have called you a medium for sure!
