Cape Fabric Help

If you want to use velvet, then...use velvet. Stay away from that costume velveteen stuff, though. It makes people who care about fabric cringe.

But it looks like that cape is made of linen, which is cheaper and easier to work with. Also, it'd be easier to weather. If I had to make something made of velvet look ragged, I wouldn't even know where to start, since people don't often do stuff like that with velvet.

See that is my issue I do not even know where to start to weather velvet, but I feel like it would look very dramatic and hang well, she was a high elf and it is a fabric that is redeemed almost royally I do not know :?
