Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

In my quest to get the perfect blue tint for the limo scene silhouette frames I came across these as a sponsored ad on fb. I think they're kinda close. What are your thoughts? I thought about using Deckard's blueprints but Idk.

Nice find!! (y)
The red lenses will definitely bring those to life!!

Found a rare pic on an old phone of the SPR25Q being worn again, that doesn't seem to be on the internet anymore, it's from the same day he walked out of "that interview"...

I've been trying to picture the red lenses in them as obviously they're not black frames.

I do think red will work well, particularly as the "tortoise" effect looks pretty dark on the images.

They do look pretty close!

My "JMM Ascari " arrived yesterday, as did the Garrett Leight Preston.

The Preston are very smart, a nice classy understated frame with subtle details. They look really nice on.

The replica Ascari are actually very, very good!

The attention to detail is impressive and as UV has already said, they have weight to them - they have a substantial feel when worn.

I'm not currently in a position to spend £550-600 so they will serve me well as a stand in.

Although the blue lenses are nice I think I will invest in red lenses at some point.

I've got the Prada spr25q arriving this week, plus the Black Bernado with red lenses (which I had redone).

The grey lenses on the Basel might not get completed before our vacation but at least they'll a nice pick me up when we get home lol

Aaaaand - the Prada spr25q arrived today.

The tortoise effect is extremely dark - the arms are actually plain and virtually black so the red lenses should definitely work!
I may do similar as the black is quite pricey but I can find reasonable dark tort.

Speaking of reasonable, I have found a seller with at least 9 pairs of OP "Oliver" in the teal VSB color for $100 shipped. I just ordered one since I doubt I will do better than that and I thought the variegated teal was a really attractive color when a member posted it. (Gio maybe?)

I've seen the teal "Oliver" online.
I think it was UV who shared them a while back. I really liked them at the time.

I had to decide between the Jack One and the teal Oliver. Me and the missus are away to Santorini in 2 weeks so I couldn't bring myself to order both, particularly on the back of my recent purchases.

I'm hoping they stay available for a little while longer and maybe I can have a rethink after vacation

I've been watching and waiting a while myself, and because of some detective work I suspect the real inventory count is as much as 30, so decent chance you could wait.

Here's one I puzzled over quite a while...from a talk show appearance in the height of the pre-Endgame era. I think these may be the GLCO Kinney M, a metal framed version of the acetate Kinney. Not sure the colorway on TV here, but I found the "KOP" color, which is a pinkish fresh copper kind of color. What do you think?

The GLCO Kinney M do look close, but I think they are Oliver Peoples Pressman OV1159T with custom gradient red/orange (top) through to clear (bottom) lenses, 48□19 145...;)

20230428_184838.jpg 20230428_190137.jpg

They may be the 5124 antique gold as above, but sometimes the antique gold can look quite light, so they might be the 5075 Autumn colorway...

He's worn the OP Pressman here too, but the 5076 pewter frame with custom light grey lenses...

The angled shot shows the hinge detail... as usual you have it correct, I think!

Found a slightly better front shot, which shows that small understated keyhole bridge...

20230428_224604.jpg

BTW, avoid buying the visually very similar Oliver Peoples Wildman OV1158T, as they share the same sidearm hinge detail as the Pressman...
20230428_231050.jpg
...But have a different shaped bridge bar, larger keyhole and the lenses are a lot rounder...

Wildman (top), Pressman (bottom)...

So much for waiting until after my vacation LOL

I just picked up the Oliver Peoples Oliver 5393U

I couldn't let this one slip away at the price, with the added bonus of being a UK seller

Found this image, but I can't find the same pic with the top photo not cropped though, but it looks like it could be from an interview alongside SDJ...

20230430_100151.jpg

I think these are Carrera 1027/s 06J/59 black and gold frame with stock light green photochromic lenses 59□20 145...;)

20230430_100654.jpg
20230430_100640.jpg

I can't seem to find a 1027/S gold frame model with light brown lenses so I think it's the 06J/59, because on the RDJ image:

• The lenses are most probably not custom, but stock lenses and seem to have the Carrera left lens logo.

• The frames look gold.

• The pic looks like it was taken indoors and skin tone, or let's say "pink" mixed with green usually results in shades of brown, or a brown like appearance...
20230430_100620.jpg
I found a pic of the green 06J/59 being worn and it seems to support and illustrate this theory...
20230430_095317.jpg

My other suspect (or frame of interest) was the 26S/2Y rose gold and black with blue lenses, but after finding an image of them being worn, ruled them out...
20230430_101307.jpg 20230430_101249.jpg

I think this now brings the Carrera frames total to 8.

Does someone have a list of all the RDJ frames from the avengers premiere panels? So far I have the following-Paul Smith Walton
OP dbs-matte brown and possibly black
OP Rayford

I'm pretty sure these frames from the Tribeca Film Festival (April 28th 2012) didn't get ID'ed from way, way back in the thread...

20230430_182507.jpg 20230501_154806.jpg 20230501_154634.jpg 20230501_154619.jpg 20230501_090423.jpg

I had a few attempts searching for these a while back too, which resulted in a lot of mind bending and dead ends. o_O

I seem to remember Jaymig926 and gio were interested in finding out what they were.

They've sat there in my to-do list ever since, but I thought it's high time I have another crack at them.

Anyway, I think I may be a bit closer in maybe ID'ing them.
They seem to be incredibly super similar to Selima Optique Money 2 (54 □17 140) as seen on Ryan Gosling in the movie Drive...

20230502_095639.jpg 20230502_095528.jpg

I wasn't sure if the Money 2 had that tapered gold insert that runs inside of the arms, which only reveals itself when lit up, like on the RDJ mystery pair...
20230430_182442.jpg

...But after looking at more Selima Optique frames found a kind of brand "trait" as regards the tapered metal inside the arm. A lot of their models have this, as an example, this olive model "Harrison" seems to show the same tapered metal detail inside the arm...
20230502_095348.jpg
...And even seems to have the same speckled "pattern" engraved in the metal...
20230430_182705.jpg 20230430_183232.jpg
...Also seen on their "Angel" model too...
20230502_095425.jpg

So the tendency for Selima to have these metal inner sections in the arms is a big lead.

There aren't many decent images of the Money 2 (especially illustrating that tapered metal inner arm section) which just adds to the intrigue and most images also seem to differ slightly between themselves, as if the frame has a few versions, but these are some additional pics I've found so far...

20230430_184016.jpg 20230430_182737.jpg 20230502_095506.jpg 20230502_095506.jpg 20230502_095516.jpg

And from the Selima Optique website...
20230502_101916.jpg

The only thing that is annoying me is the 2 metal dots on the temple, which aren't visible on the RDJ mystery pair. It seems that there might be some metal there, but they not fully visible by any means. Is this because the light isn't catching them?
20230501_154727.jpg

That almost odd looking overly small aviator size and fit on RDJ seems to match with the Ryan Gosling images, they look just as small on him too...
20230430_182831.jpg 20230502_095310.jpg 20230502_095259.jpg

The colorway on RDJ doesn't seem to match up to any product image I've found though, including the Selima Optique 6 colorways on the Money 2. Ryan's Auburn Tortoise versions seem to have an almost red hue to them when compared with RDJ's, but the Money 2 frames look to be rather elusive and there may yet be a colorway out there that is a match.

Selima Optique also made the Money 3 (I ruled these out for being too large), as they are a Money 2 re-size and are a lot larger at 57□17 140...
20230502_095607.jpg

So maybe they are the Money 2, or maybe even the first frame, the The Money 1 or "Money" from the 1990's, which I can't find any reference pics of anywhere. On the Selima Optique website though, there is a mention of them...

"For those that found the Money 2 to be a tad too snug, the new Money comes in at 3mm wider, and 5mm deeper than the Money 2, just about the size of the first Money frame. The original Money was introduced in the mid 1990′s as part of a Mafioso inspired collection consisting of the Money, Pimp, Gang & Mafia styles".

Maybe the 1990's Money "1" dont have prominent temple dots and come in the exact colorway which is missing from the Money 2 colorway line up.

So I think we are talking Money 2, as after intensive searching, can't seem to find a closer frame out there that better resembles the mystery RDJ pair, but until I have a reference pic to see what the Money 1 actually look like, that line of investigation also needs to stay open.

So I decided the only way to really clear this up, was to take the initiative and email Selima Optique with the RDJ images enquiring about the Money 2. I also asked if they had an image of the Money 1.

-That is some awesome customer service at Selima, they've responded almost straight away!!

I hope all is well.

The frames pictured on Robert Downy JR are indeed the Money 2 in Auburn Tortoise which is the same frame worn by Ryan Gosling in Drive.

The Silver dots on the temples now are not on the frames pictured. Due to the frames being hand made in small batches, there maybe some slight difference in each batch.

The current make of these frame does have a tapered metal inside of the temples but it is a bit smaller then what is pictured.

The Money 1 and Money 3 are no longer in production.

I hope this was helpful,

Have a great day,

So it seems hand made variations in the earlier versions of the Money 2 account for the temple dot situation.
That said, I brightened the image right up and there is definitely something there...
20230502_133056.jpg

I found better example images too, of that "speckled" tapered strip on the "Harrison" model...
20230502_140638.jpg 20230502_140940.jpg 20230430_182442.jpg

This is an image of what must be a later variant of Money 2, which not only has silver temple dots, but also has an additional 2 silver dots on the arm too...
20230502_141554.jpg

Here's the arm showing the metal temple detail, but it is different, in that it tapers down into a very thin strip, about an inch after the temple...
20230502_141651.jpg

After closer inspection, this blue pair of Money 2 shown on their website has actually a 3rd variant of arm, the inside metal taper looks about right but the acetate arm itself is a different shape...
20230502_144156.jpg

So the mystery RDJ frames are Selima Optique Money 2, but as Selima have themselves indicated, they are subject to hand made variations. On the early run, the frame front temple dots where not as prominent and after looking at more images, the metal temple arm detail inside the arm (and the acetate arm itself) must have an "even taper" all the way down to the temple tips, like here on the RDJ pair...
20230502_143743.jpg

Okay, so finding the correct pair and exact variant is the next mission, I have a funny feeling they will live up to their name and will cost a lot of "Money too!!"
